Community-coins do not pretent to challenge #Bitcoin . They are just proven sprouts of Bitcoin reaching out to places where Bitcoin will never penetrate.

In March of 2013, Hal Finney published his iconic story “Bitcoin and me” on the BitcoinTalk forum. He described being paralyzed by ALS and using an eye-tracking system to operate his computer. Programming bitcoin software had become much slower, but he was still doing it. Hal was still contributing to the open-source bitcoin network, believing that bitcoin could help change the world. He had worked on a small controller so he could adjust his wheelchair, and he was developing a bitcoin wallet security project. He described that project as nearly finished, apart from documentation.

Changing a wallet background color is a bit problematic using the hex-code

From now on only 6 hex characters are accepted 0-1 a-f; a red cross button changes it back to white

Linus Torvalds is still visibly dedicated and at least provided guide rails for 35 years. With bitcoin those guiderails became scattered, but the common blockchain track remains stable. This time scattering means decentralisation guided by a multitude of Satoshis
Linux is 35 years old, and a huge part of the digital world still quietly runs on it. Servers, routers, Android devices, cloud infrastructure, cars, industrial systems. A large part of crypto infrastructure too: Bitcoin nodes, Ethereum clients, Solana validators, RPCs, exchange backends and countless tools are commonly run on Linux. That is interesting because Linux grew almost completely differently from modern crypto. Linus Torvalds published the kernel, put it under an open-source licence, and people simply started using it, improving it and building on top of it. No token. No presale. No KOL campaign. No artificial “community”. No valuation before product-market fit. It became important because it was useful. Crypto often does the reverse. Launch the token first, create liquidity, assign a billion-dollar valuation, pay people to talk about it, and then spend the next 2 years trying to prove there was a reason for the thing to exist. Linux is a reminder that open infrastructure does not need constant financial theatre to become globally important. And maybe that is the part crypto should think about more. The best infrastructure eventually becomes boring. People stop talking about it because it simply works. Linux got there. Most of crypto is still trying to pump its way there.

Meet the community Community coins are built by people, not just code. Who is active around your coin? Where do people meet, talk, trade, build or help newcomers? Introduce your community here — or tell us what would make it easier for people to join.
67
Spend or accept coins A currency becomes useful when people can actually spend and accept it. Where can your community coin be used today? Do you accept one yourself, or know a place that should? Share examples, ideas and obstacles here so others can learn from them too.
46
Get coins How should people get their first community coins? Buying is only one route. Earning, exchanging, accepting and receiving them from others can all help a local coin economy grow. Reply with what works in your community — or what is still missing.

Great, We are being found in Venezuela!
A few days ago, I posted about $AUR, and the Auroracoin team replied with something I didn't expect. They shared a project with me that has been in the works quietly for years. Here’s what I found 👇

-- Freedom needs somewhere to take root -- After six years of thinking our website content needed to change. Don't be melodramatic about it. We have nothing to hide. The old one is still there on the subdomain "original". But tell us what you think when you visit communitycoins.org

CommunityCoins — Strategic Refocus Many community coin projects are facing fatigue: fading services, rising maintenance pressure. We take that seriously. For the coming period, CC will concentrate on infrastructure: • Strengthening the decentralised SPV backbone • Building the mobile multicoin light wallet • Reducing dependency on fragile external platforms Coordination will not disappear — it will become lighter and clearer. Our open workspace remains: 👉 git.communitycoins.org All ongoing work, updates and documentation will be reported there. Telegram and X remain open channels for updates and contribution hooks — not noise. We are not stepping back. We are concentrating. Infrastructure first. Decentralisation through operation.
