The climate crisis is threatening God’s own Earth. As people of faith, we must act – and we must urge world leaders to act too. My message to the Global Leaders Faith Summit in Abu Dhabi ahead of @COP28_UAE. archbishopofcanterbury.org/n…

“The Lambeth Call on the Environment and Sustainable Development highlights some of the issues that propel people into leaving their homes, hoping for a better life. The Call reminds us that people migrate from the “chronic challenges in daily living and sudden disasters, often related to conflict, economic crises, and climate change causing drought, sea level rise, flooding and fires.” - Archbishop @ArchbishopThabo, Archbishop of Cape Town and Metropolitan of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa The Lambeth Call on the Environment and Sustainable Development provides a theological rationale for why creation care is a global mission imperative. The Anglican Church of Burundi (EAB) was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the government’s environment ministry for its ongoing tree-planting campaign. 🌳 Over the past ten years, more than 12 million trees have been planted as part of EAB’s commitment to preserve the environment. The EAB revealed it had set a “One Person, One Tree” goal – a five-year commitment to plant a tree for each one of Burundi’s 10 million-strong population. "The Communion Forest is a practical, spiritual and symbolic response to the environmental crisis, and an act of Christian hope for the well-being of humanity and all God’s creation. Planting a tree is an act of faith. We are making a deliberate act to contribute to a future that is not of our own but will be affected, for good or ill, by our actions." - Bishop Graham Usher, @bishopnorwich The @CommunionForest both celebrates and calls for joint action by Anglicans in response to environmental crises. Join us for our next webinar on September 20th and 21st to learn how you can grow The Communion Forest, by continuing or starting an environmental project. Register here ➡️ bit.ly/43UYWBA

This year the Anglican Alliance is again joining the ‘Season of Creation’ in calling for climate and ecological justice. 🌍 The 2023 materials are inspirational! We are called to speak out with and for communities most impacted by climate injustice and the loss of biodiversity, and as the people of God, we must work together on behalf of all Creation, as part of that mighty river of peace and justice. Discover Season of Creation's excellent resources here ➡️ drive.google.com/file/d/145W… “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” - Amos 5: 24

It is a privilege to be part of @CommunionForest and to see thousands of local projects emerging across @AnglicanWorld as we seek to protect, restore and treasure ecosystems - all part of God’s incredible creation. Why not find a way to join in and plant a tree this year?
From a concept, to a launch, to one year! We bless the Lord for the Wisdom and Grace of the Advisory team and the Steering team inclusive of the facilitators. Congratulations and more grace to you. Do you have a message for us on our First Anniversary?
