Ever find holes in your garden veggies or discover something snacking on your herbs? 🐛🥬 Farmers know that feeling, too—just on a much bigger scale. In her latest blog, Minnesota farmer Erin shares how she protects corn from harmful insects like corn rootworm through field scouting, precision technology and, only when needed, insecticides. It all comes down to protecting the crop’s potential and making every kernel count. 🌽 #CommonGround #HarmfulInsects #CornFarming #FarmLife
Next time you pass a cornfield, think about this… 🌽 1 bushel of corn = about 110 ears, and an average U.S. farm acre can grow around 183 bushels. That’s a LOT of corn coming from one acre! Those fields stretching along our rural roads are producing food, feed, fuel and products that travel far beyond the farm. Something to be pretty proud of—America is built to grow great corn! 🚜💛 #AmericanAgriculture #Corn #FarmFacts #FarmLife
Women in agriculture do it all. 💪🌾 Some operate tractors, trucks and harvesters, some are keeping everyone and everything moving—and many are doing both! Women make up 36% of U.S. farmers, and their roles on the farm are as diverse as agriculture itself. And we LOVE that Karah's favorite farm job is the heavy lifting… and her husband knows it. 😉🚜 Here’s to the women who help keep agriculture moving every day! ❤️ #WomenInAg #FarmHer #WomenInAgriculture #FarmFamily #AmericanAgriculture
You likely see a lot of corn fields in the U.S. Where does all that corn go? 🌽🌎 Chips and tortillas, grain for cattle and other livestock, fuel and lots of everyday products. 🖍️American-grown corn goes a lot farther than you might think. As one of the world’s largest corn exporters, U.S. corn travels from fields here at home to markets around the globe. Pretty incredible journey for each little kernel! 🌽 #AmericanAgriculture #Corn #FarmToWorld #FarmLife
Harvest is big work—but there’s plenty of fun mixed in, too! 🌾🚜 After a season of caring for a crop, there’s something pretty rewarding about bringing it in and watching a full truck head down the road. Add in the family memories made along the way, and it’s easy to see why harvest is such a special time on the farm. ❤️ #Harvest #FarmFamily #FarmLife #AmericanAgriculture
There’s always something new to learn on the farm. 🌱 Even after decades together, farm families like the Burriers continue finding better ways to care for their land, crops and communities. That spirit of stewardship earned this couple the 2023 Maryland Leopold Conservation Award—recognizing their commitment to conservation and protecting natural resources. 🌾💧 Great things happen when farmers work—and learn—together. #MarylandAgriculture #FamilyFarm #Conservation #LeopoldConservationAward
☀️ Hot, dry weather can cause leaves to curl and shrivel, but crops don’t face the tough days alone. Behind every field is a farmer watching, adjusting and giving it the best chance to thrive. 🚜🌱 #AmericanAgriculture #FarmLife
It’s hard to look across a gorgeous Missouri wheat field and picture… pretzels. 🥨 Or crackers. Or your favorite pastries. 🥐 But that’s the big picture. 🌾
The wheat growing in fields like this eventually makes its way from the farm to many of the foods we enjoy every day. So next time you grab a handful of crackers or bite into a pretzel, take a second to picture where it all started—with a farmer and a field of wheat. Pretty cool when you think about it. 🌾➡️🥨🥐#MissouriAgriculture #Wheat #FarmToTable #ThankAFarmer #AmericanAgriculture

"We've doubled our organic matter."
That's not something you hear every day. Most people hear the word organic and think about food. Belinda thinks about organic matter. Belinda and her family raise conventional corn, soybeans and hay in Maryland. Over the past 20 years, they've doubled the amount of organic matter in their fields.
So why the fuss?
Because healthy soil is kind of an overachiever. It holds onto water longer, feeds the tiny microbes living underground and helps crops make better use of nutrients like nitrogen.
Turns out, "organic" has a lot of different meanings.

There's a lot happening in a cornfield that most people never see. 🌽 From checking crop health to making timely management decisions, every pass through the field has a purpose. Curious about how it works? Let's head to the field with Erin. #CommonGround #HowItWorks #FromTheField #CornFarming #Agriculture #FarmLife
Some of the best memories of harvest don't happen in the combine—they happen around the food. 🌾❤️ One of our favorites? A homemade chicken pot pie turnover. Warm, hearty, and easy to eat on the go, it's the perfect field meal between loads. What's your favorite harvest meal? 🍽️🌾#CommonGround #HarvestSeason #FarmFamily #SummerHarvest #InTheField #Agriculture
One hand signal. Three different meanings. 👋🌾🚜 It all depends on who's driving the combine. Lindsey gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the unofficial language of harvest in Texas. #CommonGround #TexasFarming #InTheField #TexasHarvest #FarmLife #HarvestSeason
Why do farmers spray? Why do they fertilize? 🌾 The answer is all about protecting crops, improving yields, and caring for the land for future generations.

We asked Val what her favorite part of farming is. She didn't hesitate.
Driving a tractor.
She first got behind the wheel when she was 10 years old, and she says she still gets the same feeling every time she heads to the field. Some things never change. 🚜

You know what they say about the Corn Belt. There are ears everywhere! 🌽😆
Jokes aside, one-third of the world's corn and one-third of the world's soybeans are raised in the U.S. Corn Belt.
Here's why.
You probably don't think much about the milk that ends up in your cheese.
But farmers do.
Before that milk ever becomes cheese, it's tested multiple times for safety and quality. If there's an issue, it gets thrown out. It's one of those behind-the-scenes parts of dairy farming most people never see—but it's happening every day. 🧀🥛

What do cows eat?
Lynn's cows don't just eat corn. They eat the entire corn plant after it gets fermented. It's called corn silage, and it provides cows with both the energy and fiber that they need.

How does one cow produce 9–10 gallons of milk a day?
The answer isn't one thing.
It's decades of learning more about cow nutrition, genetics, health and comfort. Lynn shares how those changes have shaped her family's dairy farm over the last 50 years. 🥛
