On America’s 250th birthday, I’ve been thinking about what this country gave me.
I came here more than 30 years ago with my parents, a stack of suitcases, a heavy accent, and the traditional immigrant starter pack: ambition, confusion, and no clear understanding of how credit history works.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to build a life, chase weird ideas - many, many weird ideas - change directions, fail productively, succeed occasionally, and generally pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Sometimes all three before lunch, especially on weekends.
It was not always easy. But the door was always open.
And for that, I’m grateful. Happy 4th of July.
