Even then, no staff was present who could answer basic questions. But I know the truth about what’s happening:
We’re fixing budget problems with band-aids.
So, what went wrong?
My colleagues eliminated the Human Services Department. I raised hell about it and so did you. Out of sheer embarrassment, (and to shut me up) they scrambled to come up with an alternative:
Outsourcing services through County grants to the Center for Transforming Lives (CTL).
Then we proceeded to underfund CTL, failing to meet community needs.
I support CTL and rental/utility assistance but that money should come from a BALANCED County budget. Instead we are robbing Peter to pay Paul. It’s time for real fiscal responsibility 👉VoteAlisa.com

Republicans thought they could keep taking away our rights, starting culture wars, and tanking the economy without consequence. Tarrant is proving them wrong.

I am deeply concerned by the news of yet another death involving a person in the custody of the Tarrant County Jail, the seventh in 2026.
I extend my condolences to his family, who are now facing an unimaginable loss.
We must never allow these deaths to become routine.
Every person in county custody is a human being whose life has value. Every death demands serious scrutiny, transparency & accountability.
Via @keratx, “Tuesday's death ends the 6 yr downward trend of jail deaths at the county jail, which Waybourn emphasized earlier this year.”
Yom Kippur a day that reminds us that honest reflection gives each of us the opportunity to grow and do better.
