Why did Sinestro and Hal Jordan go from the greatest Green Lanterns to villains? Normally, Green Lanterns are chosen because they have some of the strongest willpower in the universe. They are supposed to be the people least likely to betray their mission. Yet, some of the greatest Lanterns in history nearly destroyed the Green Lantern Corps itself. The irony is that their downfall came from the same thing that made them legendary, their unstoppable willpower. They were so convinced they were right that they refused to accept they were wrong. Sinestro was the perfect example. He was once considered one of the greatest Green Lanterns in the Corps. His courage, intelligence, and combat ability made him a hero among Lanterns. But, over time, he began to believe that the universe was not suffering from a lack of freedom. It was suffering from a lack of control. Sinestro became convinced that the only way to create peace was to make every living being fear him. Eventually, one of the greatest Green Lanterns became the wielder of the yellow energy of fear. Hal Jordan's story was even more tragic. After Coast City was destroyed, Hal could not accept losing everything he had protected. His willpower was powerful enough to do something dangerous. He believed he could use the Green Lanterns power to undo reality itself. So, he attacked Oa, fighting his way toward the Central Power Battery to take its energy. The hero who once protected the universe eventually became something else entirely, Parallax.

Can Tobey Maguire’s SpiderMan beat Captain America? Can Spider-Man really not beat Captain America? Even Tony told Peter straight up, "That is not what you thought when I took on Captain America. Trust me, kid. Cap would have laid you out if he would have." Almost everyone believed those words, but if you look back at Civil War, you'll find that what Spider-Man said was actually true. At the start of the battle, Spider-Man almost single-handedly suppressed more than half of Captain America's team. He held off both the Winter Soldier and Falcon on his own. Even while fighting two against one, he never fell behind. In the end, he shot webs and firmly trapped both of them. And during his fight with Captain America, because he was a fan of Captain America, he kept chatting with him non-stop, distracting himself. His combat experience was also far less than Captain America's. Without these factors affecting him, Spider-Man's performance would have been even more dominant. The strategy to defeat Ant-Man was actually thought up by Spider-Man, too. "Hey guys, you ever see that really old movie Empire Strikes Back?" To beat Ant-Man, you had to attack his legs. Even when Ant-Man grew into a giant, Spider-Man still successfully knocked him down. From this, it can be seen that Peter's Spider-Man is fully capable of matching Captain America in combat. But what about the stronger Tobey Maguire version? Would that Civil War have been easier to win? First, you need to know that the two versions of Spider-Man have completely different positions. When Tom's Spider-Man was recruited by Iron Man, he had only had his powers for half a year. A 15-year-old joining the Civil War was more like getting an early taste of Avengers-level combat. Tobey's Spider-Man, on the other hand, comes from a completely different world, a world without the Avengers and without backup. He was practically the only protector of all of New York City. Every fight was a real life-or-death crisis, and every enemy could take countless lives. His combat experience was forged through one desperate situation after another. This kind of upbringing even surpassed the training Tom's Spider-Man received in the Avengers. But the biggest difference between the two actually lies in pure physical strength. In Spider-Man 2, Doctor Octopus destroyed the subway's braking system, causing the entire train to lose control and race toward a broken bridge. To save the passengers, Spider-Man used his own body to stop the train. Using only his webs and his arms, he brought a high-speed subway train to a complete halt. Now, look at Captain America in Civil War. His strongest display of strength was holding onto to with both hands. So, if Tobey's Spider-Man had joined the Civil War, it wouldn't just have been a simple gap in strength. Captain America probably wouldn't have been able to gain the upper hand.
