I did a presentation about the virtues of using @pascoscientific smart carts in the Physical Science classroom at @tcboe 's STEAM By Design Conference. The lucky winner of the door prize, a pasco smart cart fan accessory, was Jaime Wilkey of Munford Middle School. Thanks Pasco!

Students in my #physics class used equipment from @pascoscientific to demonstrate torque at our Technology Showcase yesterday. @BBCMHS @tcboe A model tower crane demonstrated how lifting a load creates a torque and how the load on the fulcrum is reduced by moving the load.

As far as I know, this was an original use of the equipment. The pulley on the @pascoscientific meter torque pivot had fixed strings attached to the force sensors on smart carts. Any movement at the pivot point was transmitted to the force sensors.

They also had the idea to use the rotation sensor to show that the angular acceleration did not change on the lifting mechanism (we called it the crane's motor). We didn't include this concept in the presentation due to time.

I added my sixth and final entry to my #Auburn gameday diary at about 1:30 a.m. last night and crashed before I could share it here. This was probably the most fun I've had writing something in a good while and I appreciate anyone who gave it a read: al.com/auburnfootball/2023/0…

Dear Gameday Diary: The ongoing tale of my first-ever Auburn gameday experience

Auburn beat writer Ainslie Lee has been to a tailgate or two and a college football game or 30. But Saturday is her first time experiencing both at Auburn.

The North Atlantic has never been this hot this early, with a massive marine heatwave dominating millions of square miles of ocean. In recent days the North Atlantic sea surface temperature anomaly has reached nearly 1°C above normal, the highest in recorded history.

Went to the Auburn baseball game Saturday and won a prize by being near the back door of the concession stand on the way out. Movie night all week!

Two of my graduated students brought this by today and left it for me. Thank you so much @EMorelad and @savvchelle! It's perfect! I thought I'd seen every science themed Tshirt out there, but I'd never seen this before.

I have a 7ft kid who wants to play golf for us here at Kell High School. I don't have too many followers here and know that this is going to be difficult. Can y'all retweet this so I might be able to help the kid out?! Thanks!

That should be a foul on the referees.
