Congratulations to our Midshipmen and Officer Cadets as they graduate from the Australian Defence Force Academy today. Although their #ADFA journey has ended, their ADF career has only just begun. Best of luck in #yourADF roles! #ADFAGraduation2024

1 of 3. My last tweet from this account as I have now handed command of ADFA to Air Commodore Jules Adams. It has been a fantastic three years. Apart from the conduct of current operations, there isn’t anything more important that any military does than…
2 of 3. ..prepare its next generation of officers, sailors, soldiers and aviators. It has been a true honour to have played a role in doing just that and the quality of young Australians (and our international partners) that offer to serve their nations is outstanding.
3 of 3. I am still on twitter - see @PeterLeavy1 where I will continue the discussions. Best of luck in your new Command, Jules. You will have a ball and take #ADFA on the next leg of its journey.

Worth reading. UAVs, USVs and UUV’s all have potential and a role, but are not the panacea. The costs and risks are different, so we need to keep the mission in mind. Remember, form follows function and not the other way around!!
An important event - Our ADFA Midshipmen and Officer Cadets will be given free entry courtesy of the ANI. Many thanks

Certainly potential here. Sure, there is an element of risk, but there is in more traditional methods as well…

While it takes some time to build a capable and effective naval aviation force, the PLA-N is on that path. After 2 decades of Sea Denial focus (to ‘blunt’ the USN) China is now moving to ‘build’ its own power projection and Sea Control capabilities.. news.usni.org/2021/12/31/chi…
A great article on the challenges of developing strategy. US centric but just as applicable for Australia. The strategies and actions of US and China (mainly, but other countries as well) are key factors in a middle power’s strategic assessments thestrategybridge.org/the-br…
