It was a honey of an afternoon for the final (probably) cut of the lawn this year. Can’t recall a time in my nine years here the lawn has looked this good in mid-October.
Oilers down 4-0 in the season opener.
Danny sips whisky and thinks “The boys are in mid winter form already.”
I love telecom companies. Spent 40 minutes on the phone to have my monthly bill reduced $50/month. I've been a customer for 12 years. Why must we do this dance every 26-28 months?
When “dressed for the office barbecue day” meets “testing of the fire alarm bells” you get this lovely little outfit. 😂
It’s a great feeling to have the workout, grocery shopping, breakfast, and yard work done by 1030 on a Saturday. Now for some coffee and calm.
One of my favourite all time movies premiered 35 years ago today (thanks for the heads up internet). To mark the occasion I’m staying up past my bedtime to watch Chet, Connie, Buck, and Ben Ripley have their adventures up in the North Woods.
Solid Friday morning listening over here this morning and I still remember the words to most of the songs. Hope the neighbours don’t mind my open windows… 🤠🎶
A question we ought to be asking ourselves is how do we as Albertan’s bridge the urban/rural divide?
I’m from one, live in another, and care deeply about both.
Update (1:03am):
Very close election in the few ridings on the margin. #AbElection2023
Anytime I get a hotel room with two queen beds I feel like
Churchill. One bed for working and reading, another for sleep.
I have no idea if old Winnie actually had two beds but he was quirky AF so I wouldn’t be surprised.
Last night’s burger stack supper didn’t come out picture perfect but it was absolutely delicious. Homemade burgers (w/ healthy amount of garlic and some cheese in the mix), grilled eggplant, avocado, and thick tomato on a bed of lettuce. Highly recommend!!
Lots of talk these days about a transition to electric vehicles; but I never hear any talk about "The Grid" needed to charge them. Have we thought about this? From the point of generation to the plug in my house; do we have the infrastructure to handle EVs? #coffeethoughts

The recent surge in Canadian wildfire activity underneath a highly stagnant anomalous ridge has resulted in smoke overspreading much of the northern half of the US in the last few days.
Here's a loop of the smoke evolution (RAP-Smoke model images from rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/RAPsmo…):
With some spring rain in the forecast the boys in the group chat agreed today is Opening Day of Lawn 2023. Dethatch/cut, overseed, and spring fertilizer are complete. Now we sit back for a few weeks, water, and wait. ⛈️☀️🌱
I’ve been on the road for two weeks and in that time things have greened and thickened up nicely (with one notable exception 🤨)
First cut of the year on deck for today!!
It’s not missed penalties. It’s the inability to play a full 60 and relying way too much on two players that limits their success.
Work to do for next year.
Life was easier when I was apathetic to the local sports team.

General Eisenhower's report of German surrender, in full: "The mission of this Allied Force was fulfilled at 0241, local time, May 7th, 1945."
Every election there is always chatter of how to restructure elections to ensure more fair representation of the views of an electorate. I have an idea and I’ll use Alberta as an example. In a general election there are 87 seats up for grabs:

This way every vote in the province counts AND local representation will mostly align with which party earns the most votes in a constituency.
How great would it be to see a Leg that had to openly debate ideas and compromise to find solutions to the problems we'll face?
