He came in and Aston Villa couldn’t complete 5 passes in the midfield anymore.
I have seen enough, renew his contract immediately.

🚨💣 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄: Frenkie de Jong and his camp feel tired and saddened by the way some Barcelona fans and media outlets treat him.
They believe it’s unfair as the player is heavily criticized whenever the transfer window opens or when he suffers an injury, situations he feels are beyond his control.
Yet whenever he returns to the pitch, the support comes back. He struggles to understand such a sudden shift in attitude.

Frenkie de Jong: There are many things being said that are simply not true, but I can assure you that I wanted to start against Atlético Madrid. The doctors said I was only fit for 45 minutes, and the manager didn’t want to take any risks. I wish I could have helped my teammates, but that’s what happened. 😢❤️

Leo, Thank you.
The greatest ever player in the history of football. He’s completed the sport like nobody ever has.
Troll him all you want for today, but your “GOAT” isn’t even near Messi’s level.

🚨🎙️ MICAH RICHARDS ON TONIGHT REFREE DECISIONS:
"Big man, listen to me! We have to be real about this. Let’s be honest: every single big call went against Barça in both legs. Every. Single. One. The referee has to do better there, he really does! You can’t be making game-changing decisions like that at this level and getting them wrong.
I’m looking at the handball in the first leg, I’m looking at the penalty tonight... it’s unbelievable! At what point is it not a coincidence anymore? I’m not one for conspiracies, but when it’s the same story every time the whistle blows, you start wondering what’s actually going on. It’s tough, man. It’s really tough for them!"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This quote is inaccurate and does not appear in CBS Sports' UCL Today coverage. Micah Richards supported the referee's red card to Cubarsí as correct and argued against a penalty for the handball, citing the spirit of the game.

🚨Reporter: Did you hear the chant “Whoever doesn’t jump is a Muslim”? What do you think about it?
Pedri: “We were shocked, and it’s clear that we don’t agree with any racist chant, we don’t like it, and we don’t support it at all. We all need to work together to help eliminate this from football.” ❤️🩹

I don’t agree with the idea that Bernal should keep starting even when Frenkie comes back.
Yes, Bernal has been very good and he definitely deserves more minutes than he usually gets when Frenkie is available. His development and performances justify a bigger role in the rotation.
But at the same time, Frenkie is still the better and more experienced option. He brings a level of control, consistency, and understanding of the game that you can’t just overlook. We've seen how much we missed him when the pressure got high in that Newcastle away game.
Bernal’s time will come, and honestly, it feels inevitable that he’ll become the first choice at some point. But right now, the balance should be clear: Bernal as a strong rotational option, Frenkie as the starter.

Quick one, would we have beaten Inter over both legs if we’d had him in goal last season?

Yesterday Fermin struggled because he was being bullied.
Bernal barely showed for the ball.
Lewandowski rarely dropped to help build up.
Raphinha had a poor game but somehow escaped criticism because of “passion”.
Pedri was left alone trying to make things happen.
What we missed was a midfielder who drops deep, takes the ball from Garcia, carries it forward with body feints, and creates space for Pedri to operate.
That piece has a name: Frenkie de Jong.
Respect him or not — if he leaves today he’s already admired by coaches and top clubs across Europe.
If you don’t value him, the world will. 🔵🔴

Despite all the chaos we saw tonight, the only player who was fully focused from start to finish and never slowed down, no matter the rhythm, was Frenkie De Jong. He carried our midfield on his own.
I love Pedri, but even before his injury, he didn’t have a great game tonight. Frenkie was the one controlling our tempo, driving the ball forward either through smart, progressive passes from deep or by dribbling the ball himself. He also added creativity in attack, highlighted by that beautiful assist, he was just everywhere.
Even defensively, he was just as impressive, covering a huge amount of ground, showing aggressiveness and recovering the ball many times. In short, it was a brilliant all-around performance. His form since returning to the starting XI has been phenomenal.

He was relentless. The responsibility he takes to always receive the ball. Never takes the safe option that would put his team under pressure. Covers so much ground. Those who want to hate will always find a way.
Replying to @ThePurist_
Pls make a tweet about how good Frenkie was, imo the best Player on the pitch
