What to make of Channel 10’s prime time programming of late? 🤔 They have been shunting in anything - all sorts of bibs and bobs - to fill space before Big Brother returns. Why bother launching Shaun Micallef’s Parents’ Evening if you are going to pause it after four episodes?

Can it get any closer? The Block averaged 1.085 million viewers nationally last night. My Kitchen Rules 1.084 million. Ten’s Sydney Harbour Cops a dismal 245,000.

I never expected to say this but my go-to streaming service at the moment is Paramount+. FBI, Lioness, Marshals, Boston Blue, and the occasional CIA. Apple for Slow Horses. Prime for Reacher and Neagley.

My Kitchen Rules (1.137 million viewers nationally) pipped The Block (1.112 million) last night.

First season of Lioness (Paramount +) was patchy. Couldn’t be bothered watching season two. Had heard good things about season 3 so gave it a try. Riveting.

I loved “Boy” and”Hunt For the Wilderpeople”. Didn’t mind “Thor: Ragnarok” but at some point Taika Waititi lost his mojo. variety.com/2026/film/news/k…

After two weeks Digger has completely disappeared from my local Village cinema. The movie that still seems to be going strong is Heart of the Beast.

The rapport between LL Cool J and Scott Caan is the highlight of NCIS: New York (Paramount+). Great to see Jennifer Beals (Flashdance) part of the cast. Storytelling in the first episode pretty dodgy but will hopefully improve.

That poor lead-in figure for Sydney Harbour Cops (274,000 viewers nationally) last night certainly did The Cheap Seats (369,000) no favours.

1 Euro House (557,000 viewers nationally) kept more than half of The Block’s audience last night. That is an excellent result for Nine.

My Kitchen Rules (1.09 million viewers nationally) beat The Block (1.058 million) again last night. Ten’s Sydney Harbour Cops (274,000) left in the dust.

My Kitchen Rules averaged 1.34 million viewers nationally last night to easily beat The Block (1.08 million). That is a big win!

The best thing about Reacher spin-off Neagley is definitely Maria Sten. Storyline is pure pulp. Aussie Damon Herriman’s cult leader Lawrence Cole a riff on the two times he played Charles Manson.

I’ve been looking at all the movies coming out in cinemas in the past few weeks thinking “I’ll wait for streaming” or “I’ll see that in-flight on a plane”. Nothing to get excited about.

Had to happen. This year’s season a vast improvement ratings-wise. Will be interesting to see how next season goes without celebrities.
