This leftist girl keeps trying to get me to read 𝘉𝘺 𝘈𝘯𝘺 𝘖𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦, which is about the idea that a woman wrote Shakespeare's plays.
She thinks I'd love it because I like Shakespeare, but of course it makes me hate the concept. Why would I enjoy that?? 😭
I was painting a room at my church one day when a staff member's wild 3YO wandered in & stood by the paint. I had to stop what I was doing & shoo him out.
Later I asked his mom what I should've done if she's not supervising her son. "Why not let him hold the brush & teach him?"
I was having this talk with her in the first place because her children had repeatedly marred my projects while unsupervised, & I was trying to convince her that she should be watching them at all times until they could be trusted on their own. She said it was too much to ask. 🙃

Add this to the modern hidden costs in the recent @JohannKurtz article. Now even if we were to get a house in a nice (expensive) neighborhood, I'd still want a secure fence around the whole property.

It's a bit strange to remember telling my parents to "just Google it" when they asked something that I didn't know, and now they're the ones to tell me to "just Google it" when I ask them a question and I have to explain that word-of-mouth/personal anecdotes are far superior now.

Do other moms pass up getting things for yourself because you see how expensive it is? Hub wanted subs for dinner tonight so I get them for kids and him and just 3 little ones is already $18.. his is $10.. plus tax. I say no thanks, I’ll eat leftovers. So I don’t get a sub sandwich because I don’t think I should be wasting money like that. (Even though it’s my husband’s money) 🫤 which then makes me feel left out but really it’s my own choice, but I feel like we really shouldn’t be paying to eat out at all so I’m the one sacrificing and being financially responsible. Am I alone in this? What would you do?
Low-status women also are the ones who try to get you to cut your hair short, or who say "you're fine" if you bring up weight loss struggles. Don't talk about your husband to anyone who does this.
Low-status women will always try to destroy your relationship, by the way. They'll take notice that you don't insult your husband and remain quiet when everyone else is standing in a circle and complaining, that you genuinely smile when you see him, that you run to him and hug him. As a result, they'll do whatever they can to insinuate that he isn't as great as you thought, or that you're being abused, or that you're deluded because the truth is you should actually be unhappy with him. They don't care about your happiness. They want to break you down so you're no longer classified as competition.
Meanwhile, you can recognize a high-status woman by the fact she will never speak badly about her husband in public. She is respectful of him, and realizes that complaints should not be aired in public. She will never seek to harm your relationship because she recognizes that a working union serves for the betterment of the community. Even if you speak to her in private with a complaint, she will be reasonable and reassuring and seek to help you preserve your union instead of dissolving it.
Sweet boomer ladies at church keep either gifting us their old knickknacks because it feels better than dropping them off at Goodwill, or gifting us new impulse slop because they "thought of" us.
I hate this. It hurts me inexpressibly to graciously thank them for more clutter.
