The state meet may be behind us, but great programs don’t wait until next season to start preparing for the next one.
Yesterday, five current and two alumni athletes climbed into a van at 6:30 AM for a 3.5-hour drive to @LETUTFXC to compete in one of the first opportunities of the indoor season. They had the chance to experience LeTourneau’s incredible new $30 million Athletic & Human Performance Air Dome (“The Hive”)—an eight-story, 120,000-square-foot facility built to help athletes perform at their best.
What excites me most isn’t the building. It’s the commitment.These athletes volunteered to spend an entire day traveling just for the opportunity to compete, improve, and measure themselves against new competition. That kind of dedication can’t be coached—it has to come from within.
As coaches, our job extends well beyond the finish line of the state championships. We are already looking ahead to the spring season, identifying areas for growth, exposing athletes to new competitive environments, and helping those who aspire to compete at the collegiate level understand what that journey requires. Every meet, every road trip, every new facility visited is another opportunity to learn.
Championship seasons aren’t built during championship week. They’re built on mornings like yesterday .
