Women do not owe men “period” updates.
This is for women. It should be common sense and basic courtesy to tell a man that you are on your period when he invites you over to his place, takes you on a date or invites you somewhere intimacy might ensue, especially when he isn’t someone you’ve been with for years.
Showing up at a man’s house while on your period without telling him is completely wrong.
A simple “I’m sorry, I can’t come. I’m on my period” allows the man to decide whether he is still comfortable with you coming over or not.
There is a certain level of disappointment when a man takes you on a trip, invites you over, or takes you on an expensive date hoping that sex will follow, only for him to realize that you knew all along that you were on your period. It honestly feels deceitful.

Great pleasure to plant Sakura Cherry trees😄 at Ysgol Rhyd Y Grug Primary School! 🌸
In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolise the beauty and fragility of life, but also renewal and hope for the future.
May these trees, donated by the Sakura Cherry Tree project, stand as enduring symbols of friendship between Wales and Japan!! 🇯🇵❤️🏴
I’ll come at this as a published writer. Do whatever you want. Write whatever you want. Flex your abilities is the way you feel comfortable. I’m an old writer. I started in fan fiction. It’s a way to hone your skills. It’s a test. If you want to be published, make your own world
On fanfiction.
There's nothing wrong with thinking up and dreaming alternatives to famous books and stories . But that's where it should stop. As soon as you decide to write it down -- stop. Don't.
Instead, turn that energy into dreaming of your own book, your own story. Want to change Harry Potter? Write a better fantasy. Capture the feeling you want, but create something else entirely. Why live in someone else's world and cage yourself to using their scraps, their plot holes?
Be free, writers. Be free, readers. You can leap from world to world. Imagine new places and people. Become infatuated with your own imagination, instead of that of others. There are limitless books out there. Find them, read them, write them. Dream bigger, dream deeper.
Maybe it won't be as fun at first, but eventually you'll realize that your mind has superseded the tiny worlds of the Malfoids or Star Wars what-ifs or whatever else is popular. You'll be making your own worlds. You'll be the master. Your magic system. Your characters. You'll be free to defeat the potholes, to create romances, adventures, horrors, deaths. You'll dine on steak and wonder how you ever ate happy meals.
I know this because I started writing with the Eragon series in mind, but I refused to make a fanfic. Instead, I imagined my own world, carefully molding it. It was a terrible book, but it opened my eyes to new ideas, new places, new dreams.
Use your fanfiction ideas as inspiration, but never as the foundation. Build your own foundation, my friends. Sprout wings and fly. The world of stories is endless. Why chain yourselves?
“Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy is calling out Shane Gillis' #SNL monologue.
"I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television. And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it because it’s complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted and it’s a ‘conversation’ as opposed to a ‘crime.'" variety.com/2026/tv/news/dan…

I’ve seen a lot of discussions about whether “using pose references constitutes plagiarism.”
My art teacher once said, “The human skeleton has its limits; every pose you can think of has already been used by someone else, so there’s absolutely no point in worrying about this.”

I do wish people understood that the prose is everything. There is no story “beneath” the prose. Cartesian dualism does not exist for books. There is no distinct soul of a book that can be separated from the body its prose. The experience of reading the language IS the novel.

No one asked, but I kinda wanna give a crash course on how to engage in better media literacy cause i keep seeing posts like this.
The best thing you can do to improve is simple: meet a story where it's at, ideally without preconceived notions. 🧵

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

"If people cannot write well, they cannot think well, and if they cannot think well, others will do their thinking for them."
― George Orwell
The head of the philosophy department at Williams College downplays the pedagogical value of writing:
“What if we are mistaken in treating writing as the highest cultivation of thought? The evidence that supports this belief is thin at best. Writing can be useful cognitive scaffolding for memory and self-regulated learning, but the notion that it is the best process for developing thinking skills is a fairly recent idea, traceable to the 1970s writing-across-the-curriculum movement.”
