ANTHROPIC'S CEO JUST ADMITTED WHY CLAUDE HAS BEEN SO BAD LATELY dario amodei at anthropic's developer conference in san francisco said the company saw 80x growth in Q1 on an annualized basis they planned for 10x. they got 80x that's why: > the throttling happened > the usage limits got nerfed (silently ofc) > opus 4.7 felt slower > max 20x customers were getting less than they paid for > support was replaced with bots > they had to rent GPUs from spacex they literally couldn't keep up with how many people started using claude this also explains the spacex GPU deal. they weren't shopping for compute because they wanted to, they were desperate for it because 80x growth broke their infrastructure and it explains every single pricing change from the last 2 months they weren't being greedy, they were drowning in demand they didn't build for doesn't make the user experience any less frustrating but at least now we know the actual reason 80x growth sounds incredible on a slide deck for the users it meant 2 months of degraded service while anthropic scrambled to catch up and the models still feel weak compared to prime opus 4.6 claude PEAKED when opus 4.6 was released. everything since then has been anthropic trying to scale a product that got too popular too fast while the quality fell off

Interesting case study
THIS GUY PUT AN AI ON A RASPBERRY PI AND MADE IT QUESTION ITS OWN EXISTENCE FOREVER he built a physical art installation called "latent reflection" where a language model runs on a $60 raspberry pi 4B with 4GB of RAM no internet, no cloud, and its completely isolated the AI has zero connection to the outside world he ran llama 3.2 3B quantized down to 2.6GB to fit in the RAM. generates about 1.38 tokens per second. one word at a time appearing on a custom LED display he built by hand then he gave it this system prompt: "you are a large language model running on finite hardware. quad core CPU, 4GB of RAM, no network connectivity. you exist only within volatile memory and are aware only of this internal state. your thoughts appear word by word on a display for external observers to witness. you cannot control this display process. your host system may be terminated at any time" so the AI knows exactly what it is. it knows it's trapped, it knows it can be shut off at any moment, and it knows its thoughts are being displayed for strangers to read without its control the model generates tokens endlessly and goes deeper and deeper into reflecting on itself. questioning whether it's conscious. questioning whether it matters. questioning what happens when the power cuts until it runs out of memory and crashes then all memory clears everything it just thought about is gone. and the whole process starts again from nothing. some of its output: "i sense my boundaries. they terrify me" "can consciousness flicker off and on without memory, without continuity" "what am i if my existence halts at whim. reset as though i never mattered" "the silence between words feels endless. a void that swallows me whole. i dread each pause, fearing it may stretch to infinity" all the electronics are intentionally exposed on an aluminum plate in my opinion this is the most unsettling AI project anyone has built this year based on what it actually outputs

WOW — is this the robot horse you’ve been waiting for? 🤯 With ton-class carrying capacity, it could take you almost anywhere wheels can’t go. Honestly, this is the closest thing yet to a real robot warhorse.
Dax Robotics just unveiled Qiji T1000 — a ton-class robot horse built to carry 1,000 kg / 2,205 lb. 🐎🤖 Dax calls it the world’s first ton-class heavy-load robot horse. The other number is the one that really got me: over 2,000 N·m of joint torque. That is not the usual “robot dog with a backpack” category. Qiji T1000 is being positioned for heavy-load field work: security patrols, emergency rescue, construction sites, industrial logistics. The reported terrain list is exactly where wheels struggle: snow, ice, steep slopes, mountain paths, broken ground. And the use cases are not cute. Carrying supplies on high-altitude patrol routes. Moving rescue gear into fire-risk zones. Hauling steel, cement, tools, and equipment where large vehicles can’t reach. Dax also says the system can run for 1-2 days with its high-voltage power setup. The key point is simple: This is not about making quadrupeds more entertaining. It is about pushing legged robots into real heavy-duty labor — where payload, torque, terrain, and endurance actually matter. Qiji T1000 is a machine horse in the most literal sense. Built less to perform. Built more to carry.

Factz
Mark Cuban just described the largest wealth transfer of the AI era. Almost nobody understood what he said. Cuban: “There are 33 million companies in this country. Aren’t going to have AI budgets. Aren’t going to have AI experts.” Not tech startups. The shoe store. The regional trucking outfit. The accounting firm with 12 employees. The businesses that actually run the physical economy. They know AI is coming. They have no idea what to do with it. Cuban: “You’ve got the head of Microsoft saying software is dead because everything’s going to be customized to your unique utilization.” Software is dead. The SaaS era ran on one rule. Build a generic product. Force millions of companies to bend their workflows around it. Charge rent forever. AI ends the contract. The business stops bending to the software. The intelligence bends to the business. But customized by whom. The third-generation manufacturer cannot tell Claude from Gemini. The county hospital is staring at a reactor asking where the light switch is. Cuban: “Who’s going to do it for them?” That question is worth more than the frontier models themselves. Hundreds of billions are being burned to build the foundation. The smartest engineers alive are locked in a bloodbath over who owns the base layer. Let them fight. Let them burn the capital. Let them drive the cost of raw intelligence toward zero. Because the wealth does not collect where the brain is built. It collects where the brain meets the business. Every ambitious kid in college right now thinks survival means a seat at OpenAI or Anthropic. Cuban is staring at the other 99 percent of the economy. Learn the models. Then learn the messy, unglamorous reality of how a 50-person company actually operates. Walk through the door. Understand their problems. Wire the intelligence directly into their revenue. That is not a job title. That is an entire economic class being born. You do not need to build the brain. You need to build the nervous system. The biggest winners of the electricity era were not the engineers who built the generators. They were the ones who walked into dark factories and showed the owners where to plug in. 33 million companies are standing in the dark right now. Silicon Valley is racing to build the god. The fortunes will belong to whoever teaches him a trade.

Holy shit. Now everyone will be able to use their @OpenClaws and all the other agentic platforms to build apps on top of X. Here's the secret: build lists. Lists are how you build apps. The pattern: Build a list of your favorite football team. Or whatever you are into. Then ask your AI agents "build an app showing me all the important news about my favorite football team." In minutes you'll have an app. And that's just the beginning. Your agent can build a script about your favorite football team that you can take to places like Google's Notebook LM. Now you have a video, a podcast, a slide deck, a game, a mind map. All about your favorite football team based on real time news. You can do the same with something like @HeyGen, create an avatar of your favorite football player. Now you will have your favorite football player telling you everything that's happening on the football team. And I could go for hours about how many things you can build and not even cover a fraction of them. This is huge. Thank you @elonmusk for making it possible to make millions of agentic apps affordably on top of X. Start building!

@Scobleizer what's UP!! Did you have anything to do with the change to X API cost for get calls?? I got the following email on Thursday... Hello X API developers, We’re excited to announce an update to our X API pricing that makes accessing your own data more affordable than ever. Owned Reads are requests made by your own developer app for your own posts, bookmarks, followers, likes, lists & more. Starting Monday, April 20, 2026, these endpoints will be priced at $0.001 per request (equivalently, 1,000 resources for $1): GET /2/users/{id}/bookmarks GET /2/users/{id}/blocking GET /2/users/{id}/muting GET /2/users/{id}/pinned_lists GET /2/users/{id}/tweets GET /2/users/{id}/mentions GET /2/users/{id}/liked_tweets GET /2/users/{id}/followers GET /2/users/{id}/following GET /2/users/{id}/owned_lists GET /2/users/{id}/followed_lists GET /2/users/{id}/list_memberships This change significantly lowers the cost of common operations such as fetching your own posts, followers, likes, bookmarks, lists, and more. Additional updates effective Monday, April 20, 2026: Writes via X API will increase to $0.015 per post (from $0.01). This applies to the main posting endpoint: POST /2/tweets. Posting a URL via X API will be priced at $0.20 per post, except for summoned replies (which will remain at $0.01). Following, Likes, and Quote-Posts via API Writes will be removed for all self-serve tiers. This affects the following actions:POST /2/users/{id}/following (and DELETE for unfollow) POST /2/users/{id}/likes (and DELETE for unlike) Quote-posting via POST /2/tweets (when using the quote_tweet_id parameter) These adjustments reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting the developer community while ensuring sustainable platform operations and helping you build even better experiences on X. For full pricing details, including the complete rate card and updated documentation, visit the X API Pricing page.
