Someone in the UK just found an old Mars bar from 1991 and compared it to one from today. I did better in 2012 when I compared 1980 Mars brand bars (and Reese’s) to then-contemporary offerings.
Perceived shrinkflation wasn’t real then - but is it now? collectingcandy.com/wordpres…
This story has been going around about an old Mars bar being found and everyone seems to be titillated by it.
No offense, but I did this far more robustly a dozen years ago:

Marvel Comics is moving their offices from NYC to LA. 32 years ago, I moved here with the dream of working in comics. I was ridiculously lucky to do so.
Though I’ve long been divorced from Marvel - and the iconic NYC offices I worked in are long gone, this makes me sad.
In 1991 I went up to the Marvel offices and it was the most magical place I have ever been. Stan was there. Editors. Artists. Outside the windows I saw the Empire State Building And a bullpen full of wonderful talented people working hard. Happy people doing something they loved. It was a site to behold for sure. I picked up work from an editor and have not stopped making comics since then.
1] There’s a big news story going around right now about Mars formulating a special all-naturally-colored M&M’s assortment.
And it should be a big story, in light of the more conservative MAHA movement and the more longstanding progressive “real ingredient” movement, both of…
2]…which converge against artificial colors.
But what seems to be lost in this story is that not that long ago this was already done: back in 2018. Back then, as now, Mars offered naturally colored M&M’s (Peanut) as an Amazon exclusive. I know, because I ordered them.
And…
3]…they were perfectly fine.
What I LOVED about them was that they were stamped with a BLACK “M”, which is how M&M’s were originally stamped back in the early 50s.
So… naturally-colored M&M’s might be breaking news, but it’s also kind of old news. 🤔😉
