CollectingTrek.ca showcases the best bits of my #StarTrek TOS collection. Way more posts coming.
Drop by, look around and tell me about your collection or your favorite Star Trek experience.
Before their star turns in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Christopher Plummer gave William Shatner a big center-stage opportunity.
Here’s a look at Henry V, a kidney stone, and newspaper articles that may contradict some of our captain’s memoir.

This is certainly cool.
Thank you again, @MikeOkuda and Denise, for finding time to speak with me.
Peter Wolchak interviewed us about Matt Jefferies, who is our hero, and the man who designed the Enterprise and its bridge for the original Star Trek. Our interview is up on CollectingTrek. collectingtrek.ca/2026/10/02…
We remember Matt Jefferies mostly for designing the Enterprise. Michael and Denise Okuda suggest that his overall achievement was in making the entire world of #StarTrek feel real.
This is a conversation about design, simplicity, and vision.

There are many ways to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Gene Roddenberry’s @StarTrek. But I wanted to do something special—commission a studio-quality build of the Polar Lights 1:350 USS Enterprise kit. And there’s no modeler finer or more suited to that task than my old friend Jeff Bond. So work began in April and… this weekend… she finally emerged from Spacedock. I couldn’t be more happy!
Side note: That Original Series VHS release poster is the first gift my wife Sarah ever gave me when started dating back in 1986. She found it in a used book store in Minneapolis, signed by Gene Roddenberry. I was eventually able to get the entire cast to sign it.
I love it when a plan comes together! This one took 40 years… but it was worth it. #LLAP #StarTrek60
I am presenting two talks again at the
@startrektour this weekend. If you are there, please come to my talks and make sure to say hi.
Saturday 11:15: Fandom, Collectibles and Conventions: Saving and Sharing Star Trek History
Saturday 12:15: Quirky Star Trek Collectibles
The transporter solves a lot of story problems...and it creates a bunch more.
David's Gerrold's 1973 book The World of Star Trek explores the creative successes, missteps, and challenges of making our show.
Here are some bits from that book and from David: collectingtrek.ca/2026/07/24…
David Gerrold's 1973 book The World of Star Trek sold really well back in the day but this wonderful piece of #StarTrek history telling does not get a lot of attention now. Very little is written about it.
So I asked David to tell me about his book.

Fifty years ago today, the doors opened on Toronto Star Trek '76--Canada's best #StarTrek convention.
I wrote the definitive history of that weekend. Read about the fans, the celebrities, the almost-arrest, and scotch and jumpsuits and other shenanigans: torontostartrek76.ca/
Thank you for the shout-out on the podcast, @markaaltman. And you spoke to around 300 people on the weekend, so no worries about by name. I hope we meet again sometime.

I’m not much of a collector, but I did purchase a few of these 3 x 5 photos featuring moments from the original series. I like them because they seem so mundane: almost like random snapshots anybody might have from their life. I really like Gav the Tellarite drinking alone…

Star Trek does work better on tv. With movies, for me, it’s all about the quality.
So, more like ST II and IV and VI? Yes please.
More like Nemesis and Into Darkness and Section 31? Pass.
I'm working on my two presentations for the Shatner celebration at @startrektour while William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy sing to me -- as you do.
If anyone here will be in Ticonderoga at the end of June, let me know, and say hi during the weekend.

I wasn’t going to reply, because I am perfectly happy for people to like Constitution. We are all fans and, as I wrote, I too believed the Enterprise was Constitution when I was a kid, because 70s fandom told me so. But I respect your knowledge and passion... 1/4
But, am I correct that you are placing that drawing, created during the heat and hurry of making an episode, above Matt Jefferies' own illustration of the ship, the show bible created by Gene Roddenberry, and the writing literally on the wall of every bridge scene? 3/4
