THREAD: Chatting with @chrischirp about why the UK hasn’t seen Covid cases rise on the same scale as many other countries. Has the government actually got something right? Probably not. Instead looks like Brits have decided – of their own accord – to change their behaviour 1/12

What an absolute farce this has been. This has massively undermined the Gov's message - it's not good enough. A totally unnecessary distraction. He needs to step back pending an investigation so we can refocus on how we get out of this mess safely. It's wasting crucial time.

Video of a hospital in Spain. Watch it. Watch it again with the volume up. Now cancel that brunch. Postpone that coffee meet-up. Rain check that dinner with friends. Sucks doesn’t it? But not as hard as this 👇 #COVIDー19 #coronavirus #StayAtHome xitter.cf/Rntk____/status/124168…

‘At a private engagement at the end of February, Cummings outlined the government’s strategy. Those present say it was “herd immunity, protect the economy and if that means some pensioners die, too bad”.’

1. Take your metrics, classify them into 3 purpose buckets: Efficiency (ex CPMs) Vanity (ex Likes, Impressions) Effectiveness (ex Brand Lift, Profit) 2. Take your time, attribute how much analytical time is spent in each cluster. 3. If less than 50% in Effectiveness, be sad.

Flight out of Chicago cancelled so I’ve been put up in the O’Hare Comfort Inn. Lady at reception said I’m in the ‘Boardroom Suite’. I thought to myself “weird name”, then walked into this... 😂

Very disappointing- there was no reason why - even when pursuing Brexit - the government couldn’t have aimed to play a much fuller role in cultural and educational exchanges with Europe. This is a real loss.
MPs have voted against New Clause 10 being read a second time, by 344 votes to 254. This new clause would have required the Government to seek to negotiate continuing full membership of the EU’s Erasmus+ education and youth programme.
