Once upon a time, I set out to solve one of marriage’s great mysteries. Armed with a notebook, a recorder, and the confidence of a man who had absolutely no idea what he was getting into, I began my investigation into why men always forget the weekend plans. Here’s what I found. Now, I’m making up this exact conversation, but it generally tracks. Me, making plans: “Hey, hon, I’m going fishing Saturday at 7 a.m.” “With who?” “Frank and Jim.” “When will you be back?” “I don’t know. Probably between 10 and noon.” “Where are you going?” “On Jim’s boat.” “Which lake?” “I don’t know.” “I thought Jerry’s wife was sick this week. Is he sick too?” “I have no idea. All I know is that I’m leaving the house at 7 a.m. Saturday.” “Are you having breakfast first?” “Yes. Before I leave. At 7. On Saturday.” “Okay, but you have to be back by noon because—” “I will leave at 7 a.m. Saturday and be back before noon.” Notice what happened here. I communicated two critical pieces of operational intelligence: Departure: Saturday, 0700. Return: no later than 1200. And then, like a military radio operator confirming coordinates, I repeated them six times. Now let’s flip the script. Her, making plans: “This weekend there’s a flower festival I want to go to, but Sue also invited me to that yoga class I’ve been wanting to try, which I think starts at 10, but it might be canceled because the instructor is a single mom and her son Franklin, who is seriously the cutest boy ever especially when he’s wearing glasses, has band rehearsal, so the class is Saturday but could get moved to Sunday afternoon, which I can’t do because—” “So you’re doing yoga Saturday at 9?” “No. You never listen. It’s Saturday at 10. I think. Let me check the calendar. Oh, that reminds me, we need to reschedule the teacher meeting Tuesday, but don’t worry, she’ll probably be at yoga, and I hate bringing up work on the weekend, but maybe I can ask her there.” “So…10. Got it.” “No, that’s not confirmed yet! But if I do go, you need to pick up bagels at the grocery store, and make sure you get the ones without onions this time. We don’t need cream cheese. We still have some from last week.” And that was the breakthrough. Men tend to communicate plans like a flight plan: Time. Place. Mission. Return time. Then we repeat the coordinates until everyone acknowledges receipt. Women communicate plans like an intelligence briefing assembled from six agencies: There is a primary plan, an alternate plan, a weather contingency, three supporting characters, a child named Franklin, a teacher conference, grocery requirements, and several unresolved diplomatic issues. Somewhere inside that 11-minute briefing is the actual time she plans to leave the house. Your job is to find it. This is why a man can listen attentively to every single word his wife says and still, 20 minutes later, ask: “So…what time are you leaving?”
My wife after I’ve worked up the courage to ask her what our plans are this weekend when I know she’s already told me at least a dozen times.

If the Media isn’t in the White House who’s going to tell us things like… Biden is sharp as a tack? Trump colluded with Russia? Hunter’s laptop is Russian disinfo? Covid didn’t come from a Chinese lab? Trump called Neo-Nazis very fine people. Etc How will we survive?!

ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX are saying they’re going to be boycotting White House Press Coverage in solidarity with CNN, Politico, etc. This might unironically be the healthiest thing that could happen to the country. Watch as everyone’s anxiety goes down and people start smiling more

Can we just get five or ten years of political silence. Just keep roads paved, taxes low, no wars, and shut the fuck up.

Women are not wired to see you working from home. You could be nuts deep in a 184-page excel doc with billions on the line but in her head, you might as well be playing World of Warcraft with your college buddies. GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. Even if you just go to Starbucks or take calls from your car parked at the QuikTrip, in her mind you’re shirtless in the woods covered in coconut oil bowhunting Buffalo for dinner. “That’s not true!!!” Ok man, it’s your life

@RickSantelli is retiring. And one can make the argument that this was his greatest moment ever in putting the pious @andrewrsorkin completely in his place over lockdowns. Looking back now, who do you think was right at the time?
This is my absolute favorite CNBC moment of all time. He never gave a shit even when it wasn’t popular… Absolute legend! Happy retirement .@RickSantelli 🐐

You better ask your current or future wife what they think about the Lindsay Clancy situation. Your future kids lives are at stake.

I have been busy with dozens of other time-sensitive matters, but I wanted to comment on this. Our federal (and most state) employment laws mandate a level playing field for American workers vis-à-vis foreigners — yet many American tech (and other) companies prefer to hire cheaper/exploitable foreign workers to do routine jobs Americans could do, and they do this by failing to post jobs on their normal hiring channels (PERM violations), letting foreign-born hiring managers pipeline cheap foreign labor from body-shop mills over American workers (H1-B abuses), lie about their eligibility for no-cap H1-B hiring, abuse other visa categories such as J-1 visas (we see you, universities!), abuse OPT hiring to get cheap, exploitable foreign labor, and sometimes — getting super arrogant, gaslight laid-off and sidelined Americans while doing any of the above. These are not good business practices; they are not patriotic economic practices; and they are illegal labor practices. This administration will not allow American employers to discriminate against American workers. It is illegal, wrong, and bad for our economy. I am sure my colleagues at @USEEOC and @USDOL agree. We are all on the case, and working together to level the playing field for US workers. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Excellent questions here. If H1-Bs are "world class talent," why lay them off? Makes no sense, right? Second, if H-1Bs are "doing jobs that no American will do," then how can you lay them off? Don't you need them? IT'S ALL ONE HUGE SCAM. SHUT IT DOWN PRESIDENT TRUMP.

Every day we see layoffs at major American companies. Then we see these same companies hiring foreigners on H-1B visas. There should not be one H-1B visa issued to any company that lays off Americans. Not. One.

Note that in 2024, the most recent year that full data is available, the U.S. federal, state, and local governments collectively spent nearly $1 trillion on K–12 education that year. If American K–12 education spending was a separate country, it would be the 21st largest in the world in terms of GDP. The U.S. Department of Agriculture spends $18.9 billion on the National School Lunch Program and $6.1 billion on the National School Breakfast Program. School meal programs are reimbursed by the USDA for each meal they serve.

Yep, the nordic system doesn’t finance itself by taxing the rich (the math doesn’t work) but by putting much more of all of their money (esp from the middle class) in a collective pot, getting more social services, and less disposable income out of it. Fine, that’s their trade-off. But the scam constantly sold here by the left, and increasingly parts of the right, is we can have all the goodies the state provides in Denmark without radically taking away lots of disposable income and voluntary choice of what to spend it on from the non-rich. Discussed by us at least here and here: aei.org/commentary/we-are-th… wsj.com/opinion/tax-me-mitt-…
The Nordic system isn't a free lunch. It relies on a very heavy middle-class tax burden to function. Nordic middle earners face ~35-40% income tax plus a 25% VAT, taking nearly half their total earnings after spending. The US middle class taxes ~20% on income and ~6-7% on sales. The US could fund the same programs, but we choose higher disposable income because...freedom.

I’m not scared. I think you guys will fail because your ideas are stupid and very, very, old and will fail wherever put into practice. Price controls are older than Christianity, for instance. Your Mao schtick is moronic and takes advantage of your fans’ ignorance. I think you’re a cosplaying radical kid of privilege and apologist for murderers and terrorists. But you’re not scary dude. You’re a poseur. I think it’s hilarious you streamed my comments to your easily duped fans.
hey jonah, you seemed real scared about the changes taking place in american politics on that cnn panel buddy. is everything okay?
