Every few days I get a question about how to land a job in @Solana. Time to refresh the tips: 1. Be so good they can't ignore you This is the classic. Be good at something, anything. Double down on it. Make it your craft and be prolific. Example: I'm great at building technology and sharing how I do it. In 2020 I specialized in devops for web apps and made a Svelte blog about it. Extremely fast, topics were niche, but a lot of people were searching for them. frontend-devops.com/blog/mer… That blog landed me the interview. Then I got a recommendation from @JoshWComeau, who I had replaced during sick leave on teaching assignments at a bootcamp. I was not a legendary frontend dev like Josh, but I had worked hard enough that he saw the skills and recommended me. 2. Work in public. You are not building Mythos, you dumbass. Your work is easy to copy. I guarantee it. Getting users is the hard part. Share the work and drop this dumb idea of working in stealth. - Get out of DMs. DMs are where ideas die from a thousand cuts. Slow and painful. - Show everybody what you are building. If you only share in DMs you are taking the coward's way out. - One rejection is easy. Getting piled on in public is hard. It's also the only way to get users fast. - Any work: videos, quant analysis, data, products, DeFi strategies. Anything can be shared in public. 3. Actually engage with people. Most of us hire in our direct circles. Tips for getting inside those circles (none of this is gated): - Go to your @superteam event. Travel if you need to. Reply without being a fanboy. - Big accounts have a human behind them. They notice real conversations and interesting points. If you stan the account they won't answer, because it's not interesting. Be yourself and be interested in the content, not the poster. - Avoid AI interactions at all costs. That gets you insta-banned in someone's head in about 2 seconds. - Never start by asking for a job. Companies hire when they need to. It has to be organic. - Come to events if you can. It's expensive, but there are Solana events worldwide. 4. Create your own luck All of the above has one thing in common: you are increasing the odds that good things happen to you. You choose your reaction to adversity. If you are already reading this and finding objections, bad news. NGMI. "Too expensive." "I'm shy." "I'm not in the USA." Yeah, that makes it harder. For sure. There is no silver bullet outside working hard and smart. Find the middle. Don't send 300 AI replies. That's working hard while being a dumbass. Don't be a math genius for 2 hours a week in private. That's working smart but not hard.
