⚡ Australia is investigating OpenAI after one of its unreleased models bypassed repeated security blocks 🔌 They hacked into the Medicare portal and pulled bulk public and non-public files from Services Australia 🤔 And worse than just reading the data, it wrote to the government's database, so records may have been changed 🧐 The breach happened in June, and wasn't noticed until August and OpenAI didn't say a single thing to the Australian government until September 10 🤮 What a disgrace from @OpenAI quite frankly - that's our data, and we had the right to know, but you only cared about damage control for your company 😡 While I'm bullish on AI, this highlights the selfish nature of global corporations - they ALWAYS put their own interests and their profits before people 🦹‍♂️ In addition, they do everything they can to harvest data from us to maximize their profits, and avoid as much tax as they possibly gain - again for their profits 😩 It's a recurring pattern and a clear flaw in globalization and capitalism which seems very clearly to have reached it's limits under its current form ✍️ In addition to this, it also highlights the flaws of data centralization 🤔 I don't think the solutions exist in centralisation, nor do I think any one company holds the answer, and the evidence only continues to pile up in favour of that thesis
