If you want a job in Cyber Security in 2024, you need to know these 5 things: 💠 1/ There is a skills shortage for a reason. Cyber security is hard and most people aren’t willing to put the work in. 💠 2/ Imposter syndrome is completely normal. Let it guide you. Let it reveal aspects of your game you need to work on. It’s your friend that will be with you throughout your career as you continue to level up. If you’ve not seen it in a while, make a move. 💠 3/ You don’t need to meet 100% of the ‘minimum requirements’. Aim for 70% and apply if you think you're qualified. 💠 4/ Networking is the key to unlocking the hidden map of job opportunities. Build a network and show them what you can do. 💠 5/ You don’t need to have steps 1 to 100 figured out. Cyber Security isn't going anywhere. Get started and focus on steps 1 to 3. Your life happens in seasons and your needs / priorities will vary throughout. ‘Struggle season’ is what you need to get through to land a cyber security job. It’s a short, tough season in your life compared to how long you could be working in this field. But it’s a season that will reward you 10X on the other side.
