The Little Mermaid's Inspiration Behind Ursula, Divine, Passed Away Thirty Eight Years Ago at Just 42 Years Old; Today Would've Been Divine's 81st Birthday 🐙🎬🕊️ Happy heavenly birthday! 🎂 Divine became one of pop culture’s most unmistakable performers through a larger-than-life image, fearless screen presence, and memorable collaborations with filmmaker John Waters. That distinctive look would later become an important visual inspiration for one of Disney animation’s most famous villains—Ursula the Sea Witch in The Little Mermaid. Beyond that unexpected Disney legacy, Divine became a cult-film icon through movies including Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, Polyester, and Hairspray, while also building a successful career as a recording artist. Divine was only 42 when the performer passed away. On what would have been Divine’s 81st birthday, that unmistakable influence can still be seen whenever Ursula appears onscreen. 🐙🎬🕊️
