I wept in my car as I drove through London this evening. So many people out & about. I’d just finished a 12hr day (ICU Dr) on a Covid ICU. Patients fighting for their lives. One sadly died. The UK lockdown is a joke. Is >30,000 deaths not enough?! #extendlockdown

953 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, the highest, grimmest total yet: the highest single day toll in Spain was 950, in Italy, 919. This is absolutely horrific, a national catastrophe, and yet most of the media still isn't asking the government tough questions. Why?

People are waiting for hours on the #UniversalCredit helpline or placed up to 78,000th in an online queue. Cuts of nearly 50,000 staff from the DWP since 2010 have created a failing system even before this crisis. People need financial security if they're expected to stay home.
