I live in an area of high immigration. The main street is full of barber's shops.
I went in. It was full of fighting age men.
And it turns out: it's a barbers. I got a beard trim, a shave and a hand massage. We had a nice chat about life and the area. And it was only £10.

The problems in our society are not caused by migrants or refugees.
They are caused by an economic system rigged in favour of corporations and billionaires.
If the government wanted to improve people’s lives, it would tax the rich and build an economy that works for us all.

Palestinians are not “facing” starvation.
They are being starved to death by Israel.
Yet our government still refuses to end all arms sales and implement sanctions, granting endless impunity for Israel's crimes against humanity.
End the blockade — and stop the genocide.

Today, we pay tribute to Pope Francis.
He welcomed refugees & the homeless where others turned their backs.
He called for peace — in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the DRC & beyond — where others cheered for war.
His humanity is an inspiration to us all, and he will be greatly missed.

It's almost two months since Israel cut off all supplies to the 2.3 million people of Gaza, and the World Food Programme says its food stocks have now run out.
Today, the UN agency delivered its last supplies to hot meal kitchens there, which are expected to run out of food in the coming days.

Wait, Starmer and Reeves' £500 better off calculation relies on owning 2 homes, one you live in and one you rent out?
So it helps nobody you know, just rich landlords.

A summary of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS)
ISDS allows corporations to sue Govts for billions in damages, bypassing the sovereign nations' domestic courts.
Countries that have signed up to ISDS in trade deals effectively sell their sovereignty to corporations, meaning the host country's Govt cannot regulate on matters such as public health, environmental protection, and human rights.
ISDS is written into the UK's post-Brexit free trade deals known as CPTPP.
ISDS is a secret corporate justice court set up by The World Bank in 1966.
The ISDS committee has three arbitrators, none of whom have a law degree.
ISDS success rate is almost always in favour of corporations where the majority of wins benefit fossil fuel companies.
As of June 2024, over $113 billion has been paid by states to investors under ISDS, the vast majority of the money going to fossil fuel interests.
xitter.cf/EuropeanPowell/status/…
Nothing to see here, just Kemi Badenoch admitting in April 2023 that ISDS is built into all post-Brexit CPTPP deals, meaning countries can sue the UK Govt for infringements on any Foreign country's right to allow a supranational body to regulate and restrict sovereign decisions of the UK.
Oh, and also how wonderful Free Trade deals will be with Israel...

Why do Labour believe in private equity? youtu.be/R4YNFMhNiB4?si=EYyP… The logic of private equity capitalists is contrary to everything that it seems sound government, good governance, sensible pension fund planning and long term thinking should stand for. So why is Labour besotted with it?

Would the UK economy really have collapsed as Labour is saying if it had not cut the winter fuel allowance for most pensioners within days of coming into office, whilst announcing more more ‘pain’ to come? Of course it wouldn’t have done. A thread…..
