The weight room is the most influential room in a school.
It’s not a place to hang out — it’s a classroom.
A place where habits are built, standards are set, and character is developed.

The title of Head Coach comes with respect. That coach with that title EARNED it. Your job as an assistant coach is to earn the respect of your HC through hard work and commitment to the program. If you can’t do that, you’re in the wrong profession.

I’ve had programs fail, ideas fall flat, and opportunities not work out.
The biggest lesson? Being right doesn’t guarantee success.
Timing matters. Relationships matter. Communication matters. Buy-in matters.
It isn’t knowing what to do—it’s knowing how to get people there.
Q3) Tell us about something that didn't work out. What did that failure teach you that a win never could? #ironspeedchat
Forget the sets. Forget the reps. Forget the program.
Remember that I cared.
Remember that I showed up.
Remember that I held you to a standard because I believed in you.
The weight room was never just about getting stronger.
It was about becoming someone stronger.
Q2) If you could never coach again starting tomorrow, what do you want your athletes to remember about who you were as a person, not your program? #ironspeedchat
Adapt and adjust to the athletes, environment, schedule, and resources—but don’t compromise the principles.
Exercises can change. Sets and reps can change. Methods can change.
The standard doesn’t.
Know your “why” well enough to know what’s flexible and what’s non-negotiable.
Q1) Where's the line between adapting, adjusting, and compromising what you know is right in terms of programming for your athletes/teams? #ironspeedchat

Started another new tradition w/ the help of dads in our program. Dad‘s game day breakfast is awesome! Really appreciate them bringing food and cooking for the boys after our morning lift game days. More opportunities for fellowship and mentorship for our guys. Shirts look great! @SKG_Football @SKG_Athletics
Ownership starts before the first rep.
Our SKG athletes set up their own racks and handles their prehab before training begins.
Prepare. Take ownership. Be ready to work.
The standard starts before the workout.
When I can’t split out a true developmental group, I build development into the program.
Same movement patterns. Same training intent. Different entry points.
I adjust exercise selection, loading, volume, ROM, tempo, and complexity based on training age, competency & need.
Q2) How do you structure programming/development when you aren't able to split them into a devo group? #ironspeedchat
Everyone trains the same movement patterns and within the same system. What changes is exercise variation, load, volume, ROM, and complexity based on training age and competency.
Q1) How do you structure lifting groups when you aren't able to split them into a devo group? #ironspeedchat
If you want discipline in your building, bring discipline. If you want energy, bring energy. If you want athletes who take their physical development seriously, take yours seriously. @Nick__DiMarco
You can buy my online manual! If you use anything from my manual or social media.. I’ll complain online, not pick up a phone call when you call, then I’ll block you but then add you back.
Usually I’m not very quick with quips. I think of them like 5 minutes late. Nailed two in one day yesterday…
A. Wife said “that guy is wearing a purse on his shoulder”…
I immediately said “it’s a MAN BAG”…
B. At kickoff classic last night…”Coach why is that Coach so mad…”
I shot back “his biceps are bigger than his calves. That condition can cause a lot of pent up anger”
It took 55 years but my ISR (instant sarcastic response) game is finally peaking…
