Coaching gets tough sometimes. Over 200 rushing yards but 180 yards in penalties. Self inflicted 😅🙈🏈

More private trainers are needed for high school athletes, especially when it comes to position specific techniques.
Most HS programs get the best they can get on staff, but that doesn’t mean the kids are getting the best coaching when it comes their development as a player. No hate, just stating the truth. HS programs
are often limited, so they get what they can find and afford.
Hate it all you want, but there are families who transfer for that exact reason, and rightfully so. They recognize their need for a higher level of coaching. The ones who can transfer, transfer, but what about the ones who can’t?
They either make the best with what they have and hope for the best or they find a personal trainer, assuming they can afford the expense.
Good trainers will bridge that gap. The best ones will tailor their training to fit the team’s scheme while developing and maintaining a fundamentally sound foundation.
This isn’t about HS coaches vs trainers, it’s about the village rallying around the youth and helping to develop them for the next level, together. Let’s work to maximize their potential.

High school coaching was never meant to be a stepping stone.
The greatest impact comes from staying long enough to see the results of your investment in people. To coach siblings. To coach the children of former athletes. To become part of the fabric of a community.
Wins matter. But character, culture, and lasting influence take years even decades.
Celebrate coaches that fight to stay for the good of a community

The strongest programs usually have older players teaching younger players what the standard looks like.

Skill building #1 Priority!! ✈️✈️🚂
Do you train these behavior skills on your team?
All results come from behavior. Results won't improve until behavior improves. If you want behavior to improve, you have to train it like you train in the weight room or on the field.
My new Coach Advisor tool makes this possible in ways you have to see to believe.
To improve behavior, the first thing you have to do is answer the question:
What is behavior?
Behavior is easily understood as three things:
• What players DO
• What players DON'T DO
• HOW players do it
Performance and results are the consequence of what players do (choices and actions), what they don't do (what they avoid, resist, or refuse), and how they do it (effort, energy, quality, and standard of execution).
With that foundation established, review this list of behavior skills and answer three question:
1. Which skills are affecting our team most in good or bad ways?
2. What impact are those skills having on our team's execution and performance?
3. How are we developing those skills?
The list of behavior skills:
Awareness
Discipline
Confidence
Focus
Time
Energy
Observation
Humility
Empathy
Listening
Integrity
Emotion
Forgiveness
Flexibility
Saying No
Risk Management
Honesty
Influence
Assertiveness
Non-verbals
Decision-making
Patience
Persistence
Courage
Disagreements
Navigating Uncertainty
Processing Criticism
Prioritizing
Learning
Rapport building
Change
Responsibility
Clarity
If you're interested in improving these skills (in your players, yourself, or your staff) with better training integrated throughout your program and operations, try out my new Coach Advisor tool.

One of the hardest parts about being a coach is knowing that an athlete can still find a way to break your heart. Can lead a horse to water but can’t make him drink💯
