I’ve spent most of my coaching career in baseball.
Now I’m getting to work with our softball team at Porterville College on strength and conditioning.
Different sport. Same goal.
Help athletes get better.
One of my favorite parts of teaching kinesiology is helping students understand WHY things work.
There’s a lot of science behind exercise, and understanding it makes training a whole lot more interesting.
You don’t need 47 different exercises to get stronger.
Sometimes you just need to get really good at the same 6–8 exercises.
Not really exciting, but it works.
I’ve been coaching college athletes for about 16 years now.
Still amazes me how much time we spend teaching things that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual sport.
Junior college isn’t settling, it’s an opportunity.
An opportunity to compete, develop your game, get stronger, earn your degree, and create opportunities for you at the four-year level.
Make your two years count. 🏴☠️
Talent matters. But so does everything else.
We look for players who are competitive, hardworking, coachable, handle their academics and care about their teammates.
We want players who want to get better and want to be part of a winning culture 🏴☠️
After 16 years coaching college baseball, my role looks a little different these days.
I’m now a Kinesiology Professor at Porterville College and have joined PC Softball, helping with recruiting and player development.
Looking forward to what we can build.
Go Pirates. 🏴☠️ 🥎

Coaching isn’t a hobby. Coaching is a mission. Somewhere in the world, a parent’s praying for someone to show up for their kid. Not just to teach the game, but to lead, to push, to believe in them when it’s hard. Be that coach. The one who shows up, builds up, and never gives up.

Attention young pitchers!! Read these words. Success leaves clues. And oh by the way… Skenes has amazing stuff… but he didn’t say you need a certain amount of velocity or horizontal/vertical break, or rpm. The focus is purely on execution of pitches.
Such an incredible new clubhouse for our guys to call home!

Romeo Lopez-SO-RHP-College of the Sequoias. Off to a great start, 0.67ERA-13.1 IP-10K-3BB. FB Top 89, competes in the strike zone, throws the slider extremely well, uses the changeup in his mix. Great mentality at the back end of games, wants the ball with the game on the line!
