Culture comes before chemistry. Culture is shaped by leadership. Chemistry is shaped by team members. Chemistry is fleeting without culture.

If you'e never read The Falling Man, you should do so. I post this on September 11th every year, and I find time to read it on this day every year. Still, in my eyes, the greatest piece of journalism I have ever read. esquire.com/news-politics/a4…

Somebody, somewhere in NYC for whatever reason recorded the New York 1 morning news broadcast on Sept. 11, 2001.
They wound up recording history. It starts at 8:30 a.m. ET.
You get 15 minutes of news from the Before Times.
Then the world changes.

We will always love you, @DollyParton ❤️

I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.
Great advice 👇 The Socratic method at its finest. Ask simple questions and let them arrive at the answers.
As a hitting coach, I watched players come back to the dugout after making an out.
They'd look at me and ask, "What'd you see?"
I'd go through the mechanical stuff like back side collapse, front side energy, head came off the ball. Man, it was wearing me out!
Finally, I realized I needed to simplify.
So the next time a player came back asking what I saw, I just asked him: "Did you get a good pitch to hit?"
That usually stopped the conversation. Because if you don't "get a good pitch to hit," it's hard to get a hit.
This works in our lives too.
Whatever task I take on, I ask myself: Am I putting myself in position to succeed?
Did I eliminate distractions? Did I prepare? Did I practice? Am I ready to produce?
In life, your "good pitch to hit" probably isn't the same as mine.
That's the beauty of it all.
I've swung at some bad pitches in my life... so have you.
But one bad swing doesn't always end the at-bat.
Hitting is a lot like life.
It can be simple, but not easy.

Happy 4th of July from the top of Grandfather Mountain! Great hike today on the Profile Trail to Calloway Peak. Add it to your list if you have never experienced it! 🇺🇸
Can only get out of it what you put into it. Give what you can. Some is better than none. More is better than some. If it becomes a high enough priority, you will give even more, especially after giving more leads to progress.
Setbacks are opportunities. Even though the setback was not part of the plan, it is the path moving forward. The setback is there to teach you. The key is to determine a new path, perhaps with an entirely new plan. The quicker you pivot the quicker you create the world you want.

Want to be a better coach?
Get your hands dirty and get around the people who do the same.
Be a craftsman. Quit harvesting nonstop info and get out there and experiment and APPLY!
The future will always belong to those who get their hands dirty period. Every coach must learn how to critically think,
communicate insanely well, collaborate, and creatively solve problems, and resolve conflict.
Quit hiding behind the stuff you're already good at and know a lot about. Expose yourself, find your shadow points.
And for the love of God get offline more!

The first sunrise of summer shines over a place that helped shape one of America's most influential presidents.
Theodore Roosevelt came to the North Dakota Badlands seeking adventure and left with a deeper appreciation for the nation's wild places.
Happy first day of summer from Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

As an Athletic Director, you better learn quickly that if you don’t understand your school’s foundation is academics, you will constantly face internal struggles with teachers and other administrators.
At the same time, the best schools also understand that athletics is the front porch of the school. It is often the first thing prospective families see and experience.
When schools intentionally invest in both academics and athletics, everyone benefits. Strong academics build the mission of the school, while strong athletic programs build community, school pride, visibility, and relationships that extend far beyond the playing field.
The schools that truly excel are the ones that stop viewing academics and athletics as competing priorities and instead recognize that they are partners in creating an exceptional student experience.
Great schools don’t choose one over the other. They commit to both.
Americans are not ready for @HunterBiden. People struggle to believe someone deep into darkness could ever become a light. Not to mention, the story they’ve been told isn’t exactly true. Radical honesty and truth comes along, and they reject it. Redemption is for everyone.
