“Build a relationship” is directionally correct, but it doesn’t prevent behavior problems…and behavior problems are NOT an indication that the teacher failed to build a relationship. It shouldn’t come up when a student gets in trouble.

Tom Brady’s career changed when he stopped making excuses and started owning what he could control.

Drew Brees believes he would not have made the hall of fame if it weren't for a film session in 2003 where Marty Schottenheimer told him to stop making excuses
“I’ll never forget a film session in 2003. I was coming off a tough game. As we watched the tape together, Coach asked me the question…”
“‘Hey, why didn’t you throw to this receiver?’ ‘He was wide open.’ My response was… ‘I couldn’t see him.’ The tape paused. There was a moment of silence. Coach glared at me and said… It’s your job to see.’”
“You reach a point in your career when you stop making excuses. It’s usually a moment or an event where you flip a switch. Or make a very conscious decision. And it becomes part of your being. Coach was right.”
“And never again would those words or thoughts come out of my mouth. I would need to find a way to play the game a little bit different. Even if it was in a way that had not been done before.”

A question I ask every single person I work with, "Where do you get your confidence from?"
You'd be surprised how many people 1) don't really have an answer, 2) have never thought about it, or 3) immediately name an outer source of confidence.

JUST NOW - JILLIAN MICHAELS GETS A STANDING OVATION, for this EPIC PRESENTATION about the Chronic Disease Epidemic, one she describes as "an extinction level event". THIS IS A MUST WATCH
"What has happened to us? I'm here to tell you, in the late 70's and the early 80's, a sinister series of events converged to change food and subsequently health indefinitely...[we were] blindly trusting that the powers that be would never betray us...it seemed unthinkable to question whether a corporation would poison us for profit [and] it was this betrayal of trust that allowed them to insidiously infiltrate EVERY PART OF OUR LIVES"
This is one of the best overviews I've ever witnessed on how the whole system has been rigged, in what is essentially a "bad health by design" framework
As Jillian Michaels says emphatically - People have been "sacrificed at the alter of corporate greed"

We also explore how alcohol affects brain function, sleep, glucose regulation, cardiovascular health, cancer risk, exercise adaptations, potentially heritable epigenetic changes, and more.

#6: Don't Forget It's Not About You
You are going to learn on the fly. You will make mistakes.
Don't get so caught up in a desire to "prove yourself" that you forget that this thing isn't about yourself.
It's about everybody BUT you.

You’ve got to go into a game as a coach believing three things:
1. Your players will (likely) experience distraction during the game
2. Your players will (likely) experience a drop in intensity (activation - alertness and energy) during the game (they WILL idle!)
3. Your players may experience inhibition during the game (they will execute actions in an inhibited manner)
You cannot go into a game thinking any other way. These are just about inevitable in team invasion sports because these types of sports are so demanding mentally. They are brutal mentally!
Your players need a framework to the mental side of their game, and if players can’t tell you what that framework is within a few seconds of you asking them then they haven’t got a framework.
It’s not in their long term memory and so it doesn’t exist.
If players aren’t practicing their frameworks in every activity on the training pitch then they’re probably not gonna embody them on the game day pitch. They probably won’t embody or enact them.
If they’re not sharing frameworks then they’re not going to enjoy the benefit of having a shared mental model around frameworks and thus they’re gonna be less effective at helping each other mentally under pressure.
Your players need frameworks, otherwise the game will beat them up mentally…

EDM did a great job pushing the pace out of the defensive zone and stretching the ice last night.
Created a little separation and disconnect between the layers of FLA coverages and they were able to exploit that for four goals
