“He made 100 shots today” tells you very little about his shooting development. How many were game-speed reps? Off movement? Off the catch? Off the dribble? Under fatigue? With a closeout? From the shots his role actually demands? Track attempts, makes, location, shot type, and context over time. Volume tells you what a player did. Quality data helps explain what needs to improve. Train with purpose. Evaluate with evidence. 📊

WHO IS GVBA FOR? The player who wants to get better. The player who wants more reps. The player who wants to compete. The player who trusts the process. The player who is tired of jumping from workout to workout and wants a real development environment. If that's you.. 👇👇👇

A player's handle isn't the only thing that determines whether they can create an advantage. Can they manipulate a defender? Recognize a second-side rotation? Attack a closeout? Read the low man? Make the correct 0.5 decision? Elite players don't just execute moves. They process information, anticipate help, and make decisions under pressure. Train the brain with the body. Shout-out to players who value tactical understanding, not just highlight moves.

Our Winter Coat Drive is making a difference! Here are just a few donations at GVBA! We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has stepped up, but there are still families who need our help. You can donate new coats OR make a monetary donation to help us reach even more people!!

If a player looks elite against cones but struggles against a live defender, what exactly have they developed? Basketball is an open-skill sport. The environment changes. Defenders react. Space disappears. Decisions have consequences. Train perception-action coupling, read progression, closeout recognition, and live advantage creation. The goal isn't to master the drill. It's to master the game. Isolated drills are needed, but alone are insufficient.

One of the biggest limitations in youth basketball? Players getting stuck in a box defined by their team. They need opportunities to handle the ball, make decisions, defend different positions, and solve problems outside their comfort zone. Tonight at 3x3, they did just that!

One of the biggest differences between players who improve and players who simply “work out” is what happens between workouts. Do you watch film? Do you think about your mistakes? Do you ask your coach questions? Do you understand why you struggled? Do you watch players who play your position? Do you recognize situations in your next game that you worked on during training? Training gives you the tools. Your awareness determines how quickly you learn to use them. The gym matters. But so does what you do before and after you step into it. The best players aren’t just collecting workouts. They’re constantly studying the game, reflecting, adjusting and looking for ways to get better. That’s real development. If you’re serious about becoming a better player, don’t just train harder... learn better. 🏀🧠 #PlayerDevelopment #BasketballIQ #StudyTheGame
