This sad optimisation culture will be thought of poorly in the future. Instead of robust, antifragile athletes, you end up coddled, weak and inflexible ones. The inverse of what you were seeking. Balance. Holism.

Couldn’t have stated this better!!!
Will running hill sprints make you as fast and dominant as these athletes? Of course not. However, they can be an incredibly effective training means that allows YOU to develop YOUR speed and conditioning to the best possible levels. There’s a reason they’re always present in

The key to balancing sports technology budgets is knowing when the tale of the tape is enough and when measuring the minor details just isn't worth it.
Replying to @spikesonly
My sport science for broad jump is measuring tape that runs from 3’ to 13’ taped down to a 10’ 2x4 😂

This goes for all developing athletes!!
99% of HS football players train speed wrong. ladder drills dont build speed. 110s and gassers dont build speed. maxing squats doesnt build speed. speed is a skill. train it like one. → 2 sprint days per week at 100% effort → flying 10s and 20s with full recovery → resisted sprints → single leg bounds + broad jumps → 20 min per week on sprint mechanics 12 weeks of this drops your 40 by 0.2-0.3 seconds. its not magic. its the right inputs.

You’ve got 8 weeks of summer strength and conditioning. Don’t be the idiot that buries your team week 1.

Sean Thompson is the youngest head coach in D1 baseball, and the job he has done already at VCU is going to land him at a big school in the future. He is the youngest head coach ever to win an NCAA Tournament game I believe. VCU pulls the upset behind Elias Holbert's dominant performance on the mound, striking out ten over six innings of work.

How do you get better… You string meaningful training together… The more uninterrupted practice opportunities you can put together the more layers you build into your development. Work. Stay healthy. Rest when needed. Repeat. True in sport. True in life.

This!!!!
The. Only. Data. That. Matters. Is. Yours. This comes from my convo with @ForcePlateCoach when too many coaches in our field get obsessed with “normative data” Nailed it @Brandon_L_Davis And remember coaches, you don’t know how the normative data was collected. Focus on you.

Fuck. He’s so god damn likable.
Really cool moment tonight postgame after VCU upset UNC. VCU head coach Phil Martelli Jr. made a point to shoutout the student reporters that made the trip. Lots of great stuff this time of year, but this was a really awesome, genuine exchange.

Brandon Jennings might be the best guard defender in college basketball and you just saw part of the reason why. Incredible job denying the ball.
