I've built confidence from years of coaching in lots of different environments. But the biggest confidence builder has been delivering coach ed in a prison. After that, not much can phase you! That's extreme, but challenging yourself outside your comfort zone builds confidence.

That could be coaching a different age group at your own club, or going into a completely different environment to coach. When you've been able to do that, it makes you realise that you are capable of more than you thought. Give it a go.

I've worked in pretty much every football environment, from after school clubs to academy. For me, the best one is grassroots when it's done right. I was at Quarry Rovers to referee this morning, and they had 3v3 up to U15s over 5 pitches. Loads of play, smiles and positivity👌

Tonight was a great end to what was, apart from last night's CPD, a crap week! First training session of the season with the Oxfordshire SFA U16s, and back coaching with my son. It's great to see him growing as a coach and feeling comfortable coaching a high level group.

Don't you just love it when you feel like you're really in the zone🔥 Considering I haven't tutored a CPD event in 3 months, l felt really good last night, in a good flow. Just like coaching, you don't always feel like that, so you've got to enjoy it while it's happening.

Most youth players don't move enough off the ball. They watch the ball. Wait for the ball. And only become active when the ball comes to them. But football doesn't work like that. 🧵

1v1 Defending with Diagonal Gates👇🏼 10×10 square. Two gates on opposite corners. Attacker starts with the ball. First touch and activity is live. Defender presses immediately and angles the run to cut off the gate. Score by dribbling through the opponent’s gate. Set up multiple squares. High reps.
