Kid is tough and an elite competitor! Best part is, he is genuinely a great kid who is humble, puts team first and wants to win. A name that will make a lot of noise the next few years!

Your body language in the huddle is on film. Every game. Coaches watch it on purpose.

Players listen to this. Not one mention of a move or getting buckets. Simply understating what it takes to impact winning is what 98% of you should be focusing on.
Chris Finch on how Trey Lyles has been able to consistently carve out a roll every year
“Because he knows how to play basketball, like he just has a high IQ, great feel, a connector in his own way, makes great decisions, he’s always in the right spot. He’s an unbelievable team defender, like some of Joan’s growth is simply because Trey has been out there on the floor with him

Looking good in workouts does not mean you’re game-ready.
Can you read defenders?
Make the next pass?
Play without the ball?
Defend?
Adjust under pressure?
Skill work matters.
But if it doesn’t transfer when the game gets messy, what are we really developing?

Kudos to Coach Willard for being transparent. High school players…. You better find your separator. You better be mentally prepared to fight through what is an extremely hard time for high school players to be recruited.
Kevin Willard admits he isn't recruiting any high school players this year 👀
"We're not recruiting a high school kid this year... just because of the fifth-year rule. We have six guys that can come back for a fifth year. So, I'd much rather have one of my players come back, than bring in a high school kid"

I’ll say this…. I would want this guy in my corner- no doubt. And - he is 100% correct.
Bryan Hodgson gives a highly anticipated update on the Dink Pate saga.
He’s going to bat for his guy #LetDinkPlay
The high school kids are the ones who suffer- sad state of affairs for NCAA. Can’t blame Willard or any other coaches. Blame the governing bodies up top who allowed this to get out of control chasing the dollar. It’s about academics and helping young STUDENT athletes handle life.
