I’m convinced a lot of baseball players show up to events because Mom and Dad want them there—not because they want to be there. How do I know? Their CARE LEVEL gives them away. I’ve seen too many players this summer: Shirts untucked on the field while event is going on. Walking on, off, and around the field. Third basemen making no effort to block an off-target throw from the outfield. Players completely checked out between reps—talking about last night, their plans afterward, or anything except what’s happening on the field. None of these things require talent - They require pride. Awareness. Intentionality. Coaches and evaluators don’t grade your intentions - they grade what they can observe. Your CARE LEVEL tells us whether baseball matters to you—or only to your parents.
