Cátedra de futbol!
New job. Week 2. U19s in Spain.
Microcycle objective: Defending - denying goal scoring chances.
Here's part of the session I delivered yesterday. 3 progressive exercises. Same structure, increasing demand.
🧵 🧵
Exercise 3: Both groups connect.
Attacking team tries to get in behind the last line from wide. If they succeed, the opposite group attacks the box with up to 3 players.
Defending team must protect the space in behind. One win on the ball and both groups coordinate.
Inside The Coaches Pathway, the community is applying the Critical Questions Framework to this session right now.
Objective clarity. Decision demand. Constraint test. Relevance check. Assumption challenge.
What would you challenge?

This is the reality of a footballs coach. We embrace it. We accept it. We live with it.
Brighton M2M with double jump against Arsenal.
The dust has settled on Brighton’s dominant win vs Arsenal.
A key detail from their aggressive & man to man press that I haven’t read too much about was how they double jumped.
I will explain it through 3 examples below 🧵🧵
1️⃣ Brighton set up M2M. Key player circled.
2️⃣ ST presses the CB, forcing pass back to GK.
3️⃣ This triggers a second press, blocking off the pass back to the CB.
4️⃣ This orients Arsenal’s build up to the side, were Brighton can lock them in.
