Desert Ridge Situation:
Here is something to Ponder: My near 40+ years of experience of coaching as a HC in tons of sports has been rebuilding bad programs: In saying this although it seems harsh I have found it best to cut my losses with the players and parents who have been thru a bad culture, (upper classmen) and send a message to the younger kids that sends that message "we aint fooling get with what we are doing or ur gone" it is hard nowadays cuz kids will transfer anyways but you play with the kids who are buying in and that goes for coaches in your program as well
Desert Ridge: I am so proud of the Smiths!!!! The parent said this:
"My expectation as a family is if my student-athlete is in trouble, that I have the opportunity to help intervene. And there wasn't.""
This is the problem parents are not in charge-sorry-what I see is a HC saying we will change the culture-come along or get out-

4 things every athlete needs to hear:
• I love you.
• You’re capable of more.
• I’m going to do all I can to help you.
• YOU’VE gotta want it more than I do!
🕊️ You will be missed Coach Heinz… you made us feel 10ft tall on that field as player’s and were a leader among leaders as an Administrator and CIF Commissioner. Huge loss for San Diego HS Athletics. Love ya Coach 🙏🏼

There’s a difference between a hard coach and a harsh coach. My dad always told me: you can be hard on people if it’s productive. The moment it stops building and starts breaking, it becomes destructive and that leads nowhere. Coaching should challenge you, not tear you down.

COACHES: Your job is not to mess with your player's heads to make them tough. Your job is to love them and speak life into them to make them strong.

3 things that stood out to me offensively in the SFC vs Steele Canyon game last night:
1. Exceptional QB play from both teams.
2. Skill guys who were dynamic after the catch and looking to score every play.
3. Great protection from both OLs most of the night.
2. Both teams skill guys displayed a knack for the big play and “want to” for the big moments in the game. Routinely hit their route running landmarks as you would expect from
Championship level teams.
