This is the dip and rise in action: pressure on top of the bag forces the defender to drop, rise through contact, then squeeze and clamp the side flaps with the shoulder and chest. The tight arrowhead connection locks the tackle in @RichieGrayGSI
Cross over way to teach THUD and TUC finishes: ✅ Working Hips to Grips ✅Low to high weight displacement ✅Leading with shoulder follow with feet ✅Pressure to top of @RichieGrayGSI equipment forces pads to drop ✅🎾 in hand for grip #KOYA

Important to develop the near-side pec/shoulder junction—the front-inside shoulder where the upper pec and front delt meet. Banded punches strengthen this area to help players deliver a powerful, stable shoulder through contact and maintain position. Deliver the contact!
#TACKLESTUDY: STRAIN THROUGH S.N.A.P. ✅FORM AND FIX POWER ANGLES ✅GET EXTRA STEP ✅GET DEPTH IN CLAMP 🔴SEEK 🔴STRIKE 🔴STRAIN #KOYA

Replying to @RichieGrayGSI
@RichieGrayGSI bags demand dominant contact, a crushing grip & a complete finish. Use grip bars to force precise hand placement. Add fatigue to expose weak technique. The rep isn’t finished at contact—make them secure, control & finish every tackle. Never give easy reps.
Linebackers: Track the Back HIP. SHUFFLE when possible. SCRAPE for more speed. Don't OVERRUN the ball carrier.

85% of contact work, with or without helmets and shoulder pads, can be a variation of this. Specifically for near foot, near shoulder tackles. There's still a lot of other aspects to tackling you have to work: the near-pec angle, the profile tackle, different entry angles, footwork, etc. You don't need a bunch of gimmicks. Running around cones. Tackle wheels. Rolling around with bags. Straight fundamentals: timing the power step, dropping pad level, creating force into the ground. Takes hundreds of reps, focusing on the right things to build the right tackling habits that show up on game day.
give the runner a 2-way go and this is something you can run year around. The pad constrains how you can hit/apply force just need a decision present this was a predetermined tkl mat session from the all blacks but look at the player in the middle of the drill ask for a 2-way go

Some have asked for tackling resources. I put a bundle of courses together at about 1/2 off. from pre season to in season. LINK: coachtube.com/bundles/tackli…

Here is a thread. We talk about a tool kit. Here is the analogy of the Hammer,Screw and Crowbar to finish tackles based on the Lever!
Watching all these tackle drills miss the mark on leverage. Want to talk leverage understand levers!
