Griffen Engle shoulders load, Pullman bounces back with big 2A win over Rogers 37-15 | @GSL_Scores football spokesman.com/stories/2026/o…
Nice job taking care of business last night, boys! Plenty to iron out, but 36 points in under 15 mins and 4 takeaways by our D is a great start! Back to 0-0 as we battle for 1-0 against a talented West Valley team.
@PullmanFootball
Tuesdays have come Pullmans favorite day. Deemed “turnover Tuesday” under coach Agnew the Hounds have taken pride in winning the turnover battle all season. Friday night was no different in their 36-3 win over Dear Park.

Going down 12-0, Pullman (4-0) looked shocked according to coach Agnew. But the Hounds did not allow another Clarkston score, thanks to a series of defensive stops. This bought time for the Pullman run game to get going enroute to a 23-12 PHS win.

For the first time since 2015!!! Fantastic calls by @CoachKevinAgnew & sheer willpower by our seniors! Congrats @PullmanFootball
Great win @PullmanFootball! Back to 0-0 now as we prep for our first @GSL_Scores action.
After Friday nights win over St. Maries, Pullman (3-0) is off to their best start since the 2018-2019 season. The message has been the same every week, “Establish dominance.”

🔔🔔🔔 all of these are great but #3 is critical. Leadership without service is just manipulation. Serve your teammates, serve your coaches, serve your team & success will follow! @PullmanFootball
Most coaches pick captains based on who is the most vocal.
Research says the best captains look very different.
Sam Walker studied the greatest teams in sports history for The Captain Class and found 7 traits their elite captains consistently shared.
And some of them might surprise you.

Malcolm Gladwell’s point made in 2008 about youth hockey and soccer should force football coaches and parents to examine how we evaluate development.
At young ages, we often believe we are identifying the most talented athletes. In reality, we may be rewarding the players who are older, more physically mature, more coordinated, or simply further along in the developmental sequence. Once selected, those athletes receive better coaching, more repetitions, stronger competition, greater visibility, and increased confidence. Eventually, the early advantage becomes a real performance advantage.
Football operates through similar selection systems. Early varsity placement, showcase invitations, recruiting exposure, reclassification, redshirting, and additional eligibility can all create access to better developmental environments. The rules establish the structure. Families will naturally study that structure and maximize the opportunity available within it.
Why would they not?
Coaches may dislike the proliferation of “rule maxing,” but clear eligibility guidelines produce predictable behavior. When another year can provide physical maturity, additional film, improved mechanics, greater conceptual command, or a better recruiting position, families will evaluate that option seriously.
The larger coaching responsibility is to separate current performance from long-term projection. The biggest eighth grader is not automatically the best future player. The first quarterback selected is not necessarily the quarterback with the highest ceiling. Early access can create development, but early exclusion can also conceal potential.
Talent evaluation must account for age, maturity, opportunity, coaching history, and repetition volume. Otherwise, we risk measuring accumulated advantage and calling it natural ability.
Development is not only about where an athlete is today. It is about understanding the structure that helped him get there and what he may become with equal access, disciplined coaching, and sufficient time.

Class of 2027.
I think this message is important to share with you before your Senior Year of Football. You don’t realize it now but someday you will. It’s going to be one of the most amazing times of your life.
You’re going to have a town, a community following you and watching your every move. Take a look around, see all the kids that show up to support you. You were once one of those little kids that played football during the game, looking at the boys on the field as if they were Gods.
Thank your family and support system for supporting you to become the player you are now. They went thru a lot to get you here, you didn’t do this alone. Tell them that because at the end of the day they are the ones that will be there for you after all this passes. They believe in you.
I’m 37 years old and I still think about it often. The memories you have with your brothers and what you achieve because of the hard work you put in for years and years.
Do all you can to leave everything on the field. Become the leader you once saw from an older teammate. Sit down and look around from time to time, take in the moments for they will be memories you’ll have for a lifetime.
Focus on your team now, not recruiting. This is the best team sport in the world. It’s time to focus like there is no tomorrow, you never know when there is no tomorrow in your football playing career. ✌🏼
This kid right here!!! 👀
Warrior, workhorse, talent.
