One thing baseball taught me that took years to fully appreciate... Not everyone who works hard gets rewarded right away. Not every talented player gets an opportunity. Not every good person catches a break. And sometimes, the people doing everything right are the ones struggling the most. That's life, too. Keep showing up. Keep treating people right. Keep doing the work. Just because the results haven't caught up to your effort doesn't mean they never will. 👊

This is how you celebrate a home run in a game that could send you to the World Series. Junior Caminero is ready.

Somewhere this morning, there's a high school baseball player getting ready for school. He's checked his phone a hundred times this week, hoping a college coach might reach out. Nothing. No offers. No big recruiting headlines. No guarantees that any of this will work out. But after school today, he'll head right back to the cage, the weight room, or the field. Because he still believes. And maybe that's the part of this game we don't celebrate enough. The kids who keep showing up when the world hasn't given them a single reason to believe they're next. If that's you, keep going. Your story is still being written. ⚾️

BUNTING MANIPULATES PITCHER APPROACH AND SETS THE TABLE FOR FUTURE MOMENTS With 2 outs and no body on in the 3rd inning, losing 4-0, @Brewers Manager Pat Murphy told #9 hitter David Hamilton to lay down a bunt in a seemingly unimportant at bat. Why? Because Murphy knew Hamilton was known for bunting and they could set the table for a future at bat and big moment later in the game where he’d get a pitch to hit. And that’s exactly what happened. Hamilton bunted. Hamilton got out. But in the 5th, in Hamilton’s next at bat, he got a pitch in the heart of the plate and singled scoring a run and bringing the Brewers within 1. And in the 9th, Hamilton did it again, homering on a get me over slider and extending the Brewers lead to 6-4. You bunt to create future moments, and the Brewers did just that. #BuntLife

Pat Murphy uses climbing a mountain to explain how he wants his team to handle getting closer to its goal. “As you get closer, you just got to keep your footing…you can’t look too far ahead. When you look up for the prize…you might step in a crack or a pothole.” Getting close to a goal can pull a team away from the very things that put it within reach. Players start pressing. Coaches feel compelled to say more. Everyone wants to make something happen. Part of leading in those moments is helping people trust the work they’ve done and stay connected to what the next play (and moment) requires. Keep the goal in view and the next step in focus. 🎥: NLCS Press Conference

Mindset of a Hitter: At a certain point, you got to make that switch mentally in your mind: I'm not going to lose a f**king pitch today. I don't care who's on the mound. I don't care what happened yesterday. We can talk till we're blue in the face about mechanics, swing path, mindset, vertical barrel, setup, and all these different things. You have to mentally make a CHOICE I'm not losing a pitch. I'm going to war with the mechanics I got. I'm good enough because I write it down, because I believe it. I got enough to win right now, and that's all I need. At a certain point, I just go up in there and I compete. A competitive, gritty mindset that refuses to lose a pitch, even when you know you don't feel your best mechanically and something's off: you just refuse to be late all day and just see what happens. If you continue to go up there and, "Oh, I don't know, I'm feeling for it, man," feelings will get you killed. Feelings will get you killed. You got to make a choice: I'm not losing a pitch today, and if I do lose one, f**k it, I'm not losing the next one. Over and over and over and over again. This is a mindset that you make before you get to the field. Every single day, you have to make a choice to kill the mediocre, passive version of you. I know there's a combination of "I'm enough, I got what it takes," yes, self-compassion, gratitude, absolutely. I am so thankful for this day. Now let's go kill whatever I got in front of me. That's what it takes.

You have a kid playing sports? Listen to this. You've ever fallen on your face? Listen to this. Ever failed? Listen to this. Insane respect for Bryce in the way he framed this. It needs to be heard. xitter.cf/ThePhilliesShow/status…
Bryce Harper thought about his son Krew and "what [he] would say to him in that situation" as he turned the page on the misplay in right field. ❤️

Most youth kids cannot body weight squat 10 reps with ideal form. Push ups/? It’s even worse. Skipping? Don’t get me started. BASIC physical literacy/proficiency is becoming a rare commodity. Trust me… your 8-12 year old athlete does not need “enter sport” specific program/training.

Hard is coming. In baseball. In school. In your career. In relationships. In life. You don’t get to choose whether hard eventually finds you. But you DO get to choose who you are when it arrives. Confidence helps you through hard. I believe that. So does preparation. So does discipline. So does having people in your corner. So does faith. So does doing difficult things when life is still comfortable. Because when adversity finally shows up, you rarely rise to some magical new level. You fall back on what you’ve built. The bullpen when nobody was watching. The extra reps. The early mornings. The failures you refused to run from. The promises you kept to yourself. Don’t spend your life hoping things get easier. Build yourself into someone who can handle when they don’t. Hard is coming. Build your floor. Chase your ceiling. 🔨⚾️

Three types of hitters: Hitters who swing not to strike out. Hitters who swing boost their stats. Hitters who does whatever it takes to win. The hitters in the third line is the hitter every coach and team wants.
