Yesterday we logged almost 200 challenges- about 150 of those resulted in immediate removals.
This is a picture of all the books removed from one HS library, in one day, in one District, due to the objections of one man.
This is not freedom. #FreeTheBooks

Wow! Here is Granbury ISD again showing up in the news. Yet another story that should make everyone question the leadership of the district. And this seems like a doozy.
Guess I’m tuning in to channel 8 at 10pm tonight.
TONIGHT AT 10 on @wfaa:
Granbury ISD says it bought a private plane to teach students about aviation.
We discovered an Assistant Superintendent used the plane for a family trip and an education expert says his use of the plane could violate the state’s ethics code.

PEN America has compiled a report on book bans in the US—including where it's happening and which books and authors are getting banned the most. It finds a "profound increase... [in bans on] books that relate to communities of color and LGBTQ+ subjects." pen.org/banned-in-the-usa/

ALT Graphic featuring the PEN America logo and text that reads, "Which stories have been banned?" followed by a chart of statistics, including: 467 books on protagonists of color, 379 books on LGBTQ+ characters and topics, 247 books addressing race or racism, 84 books about trans characters and topics.

The library, and we cannot stress this enough, is a place of voluntary inquiry; students are not required to read books from the library. Additionally, no book is right for everyone, but one book can make a significant difference in one life. 🙄 #RightToReadTX
In a leaked recording, a North Texas superintendent explicitly targeted books with LGBTQ themes to be removed from Granbury ISD schools. bit.ly/3tDPoMa

Yes! I will say it again, a book is the SAFEST place to experience ANYTHING…drugs, sex, marriage, travel, LGBTQ+, hungry caterpillars, etc. #fREADom #FreedomToRead #IReadBannedBooks #BooksAreNOTGatewayDrugs

No words for how distressing this is. If you are not worried, GET WORRIED. Even if you don't care about these stories, please know that books being banned, burned, are proxies for the people these groups wish didn't exist.
Replying to @jonfreadom
I went on FB and indeed you can watch the book burning from last night in TN yourself. See below. xitter.cf/shmoore75/status/14890…

14 hours to go to order a Radical Gaslighter shirt, all to encourage the high school kids pushing back on their district removing books, and support the @FTRF. They have raised over $2,000. Can you help them raise even more?
