It’s possible I’m just a little passionate about that subject!😁
But it’s not an opinion, but 30+ years of research. If someone attempts to change your arm path, first ask them if they can explain the kinematic sequence and how the sequence relates to your arm. They will probably look at you like you have spinach in your teeth!🤣
Your arm path will inevitably be correct or incorrect by what you have already done in your sequence.
Poor timing to foot strike, bad path.
Weak or early glove side, bad path.
Fix the sequence, and the arm will go to its natural and most healthiest path.
We are going to keep hammering it home, for as long as it takes……Leave the throwing arm alone! Upcoming Athlete & Coach Performance Clinics nationalpitching.com/coach-a… @tomhouse

Gripping a handle helps stabilize mobile joints, increases muscle activation, and increases grip strength. The question is… why wouldn’t you want to grip something when doing band work? @NPA_Pitching bands have the perfect ergonomically correct grip!
nationalpitching.com/product…
Resistance bands are a mainstay in most any pitchers arsenal. When doing the NPA Band Routine (Training Block #7), or any band work, be sure to grip the handles to increase muscle activation in your rotator cuff, lower trap and forearm flexors. @NPA_Pitching @tomhouse

Why do we care about vectors in pitchers and QB’s? To simplify, the further parts of your body get away from your center mass the less efficient the magnitude of force. Meaning less accuracy and higher stress levels. Further translation… you can throw hard with bad mechanics, but at a high cost of poor accuracy and health. Yes, we have drills for that.

vector
/vĕk′tər/
1.A quantity, such as velocity, completely specified by a magnitude and a direction.
2.A one-dimensional array.
3.An element of a vector space.

Greg Olsen said, "Hard is good. The earlier you can learn to deal with hard, the easier it gets...because hard is coming. Whether we want to shield it from kids now or not, hard is coming."
You can't steal the struggle for other people.
One of the biggest epidemics today is people's "fear of failure."
They're afraid to start because they're afraid to "fail".
When you're afraid to fail, you become paralyzed.
You're too scared to take risks, to try new things, or to put yourself out there.
5 Ways For Them to Overcome Their Fear of Failure:
1. Change the Attitude About Failing - Failure isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of bravery. True growth only happens when you learn from your mistakes. Reframe the language and perception around challenges or "failures", make it exciting and enticing to try new things.
2. Emphasize Effort not "Ability" - Focus on the effort put into a task, rather than the innate ability. Praise the hard work and determination, not the outcome. Cultivating a growth mindset allows children to understand that abilities can be developed through dedication and persistence.
3. Keep Trying New Things - Encourage children to explore new activities and interests. This helps them understand that it's normal not to excel at everything. It also normalizes a "beginner's mindset" when learning and grow. They will understand that the value lies in the experience and learning process, not just in achieving success.
4. Go through Worst-Case Scenarios and Fear-Setting - Fear setting helps you to identify and confront your fears and the potential obstacles that may be holding you back. You think through the worst-case scenario and the steps to mitigate it. The process allows you to put your fears under a microscope and consider the potential benefits of taking action vs. “failing”.
5. Demonstrate Unconditional Support and Love - Children need to feel secure in the knowledge that their value and your love for them are not contingent on their successes or failures. It is not outcome driven. Showing consistent support builds confidence and to allow them to take risks and learn from their experiences without the fear of losing your approval.
There will always be setbacks.
There will be challenges.
But worrying about failure holds you back more than the failure itself ever could.

If you believe weighted ball “holds” are bad for mechanics, please watch this. Then read/watch the rest of this blog to understand why you should be doing them!
Weighted ball holds are NOT a mechanics drill. They are meant to increase functional strength and mobility. Here, coach @tomhouse and @NPA_Pitching master performance coach @roberttomhouse1 discuss. Read more in our latest blog! teammstrd.com/weighted-ball-…

Strength Coaches please read!
Before every session with our athletes we asked four questions:
1. When did you pitch last?
2. When do you need to pitch again?
3. How does your arm/body feel?
4. Were you in the weight room today?
Please ask the first 3 questions before having them lift. Avoid the possibility of them pitching in muscle failure just to stay on your agenda.
If you don’t, then your agenda was more important than their well being.

Love this, but not surprising at all! The majority of ball velo comes from torque (hip/shoulder separation). Every rotational athlete should include swinging and throwing from knees to train max torque.
