Personal Life Update: As some of you may have noticed, I have been absent on the Herd bench the last couple of games. Recently I was presented with an unbelievable opportunity outside of basketball that would allow me to spend the time with my family I have always dreamed of. I will always love the Herd! But that love pales in comparison to the love I have for my wife and children. Megan has been on this journey with me for over 20 years. Through ups and downs as a player and coach. 17 different moves in 4 states. Wins and losses. She’s been a rock of consistency and love. She gave up her dreams to chase mine. To all the coaches I have worked for: I take a piece of you with me to my new career. And I THANK you for lessons learned and opportunities given. Donnie Jones, Bob Williams, Jayson Gee, Dan D’Antoni, and Cornelius Jackson all believed in me and gave me an opportunity. I want to also thank Shawn Finney for teaching me that coaching was so much more than the stuff “on the floor”. To my so many friends in coaching: I thank God that basketball has introduced me to you. The great times on the road recruiting, Final Four’s, late night texts of encouragement or congratulations. I’m excited to cheer for you all now from the other side. To all my former players: it has and always will be about you guys! I’ll miss the guys keeping me young. I’ll miss our talks off the floor about life and anything else other than hoops. It has been the privilege of a lifetime to have been able to impact so many young people, and have them impact me as well. To Herd Nation: y’all are the best man. Since my time playing here in the mid 2000’s all the way through now, I see the same consistent faces. Fiercely loyal and ready to take on the world. Be excited for this year because Coach Jackson has put together a really talented group who will do big things! Now I turn my attention to a new career, in a new state once again. Hopefully this will be the last move for a long time. We will be relocating to Knoxville, TN for my position with Stryker medical. I’d imagine I’ll be coaching a little 9 and under AAU ball this summer too. Again, thank you all for the support over the years, from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a hell of a ride. Always A Son of Marshall, Adam Williams

I’ve seen a ton of varying takes on Coach DeBoer chewing out his player last night for the disastrous personal foul penalty late. The one consistency among the takes: Those who have been in leadership positions (based on Twitter profiles) generally have a different take than those who haven’t.

Regarding all the politicians speaking out on both sides of the Protect College Sports Act: Where has the outrage been the last 60 years? None of them cared how much athletes made until recently. I can’t be convinced they just became aware of how much money is involved with major college athletics. So… what changed?

One of my biggest pet peeves with coaching is those who act like they can absolutely have no hobbies. “All I do is coach ball” Come on man…. Good for Coach Tomlin though. This is pretty cool.

When does the decision for this Protect College Sports Act drop? I’m excited to see the reaction regardless of outcome.

Glad to see @SalemTigerHoops is applying to rejoin the @NAIA. Although they are a natural fit for the @TheMountainEast, they were continuously stonewalled and not given a membership opportunity. I’ll always cherish my 3 years at Salem. Here’s to a fresh start 🍻

Next time the Smoothies after Practice are runny or Charter gets delayed, show them this Schedule. One Team’s INCONVENIENCE would be another Team’s EXTRAVAGANCE.
Mississippi Valley State will start its season with 16-straight road games. 10 of their first 14 are guarantee games against high-majors.

Conflict of interest maybe? I definitely see value in a scouting report, film eval, etc. Not sure if I like it from the same folks who are ranking the players nationally.
Rivals is charging high school athletes and parents $499 for an 'evaluation' by a Rivals scout. The fee includes a scouting report, grade, film evaluation, coach interview, and consideration to be ranked on their site.

People get it twisted when they hear it’s God’s plan. They set goals and wait for God to take take over. God gave everyone unique skills. Figure out your skills and set the goals. Here is the “kicker” You set the goals, put them in motion and follow God’s plan to achieve them

My father, who is 86 years old, said 25 years ago that he hated internet message boards. “Why dad?” “Because they give people a public forum to voice opinions they haven’t earned about subjects they know nothing about.” This rings more true than ever today.

There are a lot of unsavory suggested reasons that people think “those in control” want players limited financially. Couldn’t it just be as simple as prominent figures want it “how it used to be” so the number of schools paying dudes goes down dramatically and it’s less expensive? I disagree with: “Coaches don’t want young athletes to have money.” I think it’s more of: “Some coaches want to maintain a recruiting edge over people who won’t cheat” At the end of the day, it is and always will be about WINNING.
