2026 Rancho Buena Vista guard CJ Aldrich explodes for 41 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Longhorns to a gritty 76-68 comeback win over Alameda.
The 6-0 point guard is as gifted a scoring point guard you’ll see in SoCal.

Highlights of 6-1 2024 G Trent Lotito (Rancho Buena Vista/ Our Way). Late blooming unsigned prospect evolving into an effective three-level scorer with rapidly improving athleticism and physicality. Local junior colleges should take a look.

The typical college coach recruits in this order now:
1. Re-recruits own team
2. Transfer Portal
3. JUCOs
4. Prep/Post Grad
5. High School
You don’t have to like it but it’s the reality of the landscape at the moment.

Heard a parent spazzing on their kid yesterday walking to the car. Told em “you need to go play on a team with 6-7 players and get your stats up…got me wasting money now to see you score 3 pts”
I kept walking but im like…man that seed gets planted into kid’s heads early. Win or Lose..Talent or No Talent…its about “getting your stats up” Coaches can only be as effective as the messages reinforced in the car and at home.

For 30 yrs of being knee-deep in AAU/grassroots ball, I've always thought of it as being the Wild West! But what I'm seeing right now, AAU has NOTHING on the out of control craziness of college basketball transfer portal. It's not sustainable. It's gonna implode if nothing done
