I was a kid with a chronic illness (stomach issues). Yes, perfect attendance awards ARE ableist. They reward you for “never getting sick” or “showing up to school even when you are sick.” It’s essentially an award for not being disabled. That’s ableist.

It’s honestly fucked up how many neurodivergent traits are treated as social flaws. Being too direct means you’re rude. Being passionate means you’re dramatic. Being hyper means you’re childish. Talking too much makes you annoying. Not making eye contact makes you disrespectful. None of these things automatically hurt anyone. Maybe stop treating every difference like a character flaw.
