On my way from Spain via Poland to meet @WCKitchen team in @MFA_Ukraine this is the moment Ukraine needs our support…..as I’m near the border, and I update Air Alert Ukrainian app, alarms don’t stop coming….missile after missile every night! @NATO @Europarl_EN @EU_Commission must do more! Can do more. Should do more!

I just went to inspect Delaney Hall and heard from detainees that they aren't getting the medical care they need. Many are in pain. A man I spoke with was in tears.
Three people have now died after being held here. Delaney Hall needs to be shut down.

Kevin González is only 18. He is suffering from stage 4 colon cancer and has days to live. He’s desperate to spend his last moments with his parents, but ICE detained his mom and dad after they tried to seek humanitarian asylum.
This is the total cruelty of Trump’s mass deportation machine. I'm asking for Kevin’s parents to be released immediately so that they can be with their son. nbcchicago.com/news/local/ch…

Through struggle and discipline, persistence and faith, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped move this country forward. As we honor his legacy today, let’s remember the lesson he taught us: that even in the face of impossible odds, people who love this country can help change it. In honor of #MLKDay, I hope you’ll do what you can in your community to create a better future for us all.

Don't let what you see on social media skew your view of humanity.
Most bad behavior is due to a few bad apples:
• Just 3% of active users are toxic, but they generate 33% of online content
• 1% of communities launch 74% of conflict
• 0.1% of users spread 80% of fake news

Nobel Laureate Jennifer Doudna, a graduate of Hilo High School on the Big Island of Hawai'i and the inventor of CRISPR, in the news again. This time not for a medical breakthrough but a potentially climate-saving one! #HawaiiTech washingtonpost.com/climate-s…

“Over the weeks, months, and then years of training in Kendo, it would become deeply ingrained in me to face conflict and challenges this way: head on and belly button forward.” — @Cmoon #DailyDharma buff.ly/3TLiq8z

Last night, finished @cmoon's memoir of life at an O'ahu dojo that hones intense self-act(ualizat)ion via arts martial & courtly.
Rare the read with such insight on zen's diverse ideas/ways; on Hawai'i's unique culture; and about a friend herself. #brava

"A memoir is not merely the record of a transformation, but the device for one, and the blank page symbolizes its great hope and wager."
Perfect. 🙏🏼 @parul_sehgal
One of my favorite things about criticism (reading it, writing it) is how it can enable coolness and clarity of thought. Began this review feeling surly at state of memoir/the career memoirist's shtick, finished it feeling something else entirely newyorker.com/magazine/2024/…

I met with a group of teenagers yesterday. One of their teachers had suggested that I talk to them about career paths because they're all anxious about exams, university choices and future work.
Instead of talking to them, I listened, and the actual problem was very different.

Rinzai Zen priest @cmoon‘s newly released memoir has just arrived :)
I have been very much looking forward to reading this. Cristina kindly gave me a tour of their beautiful temple chozen-ji when I was in town earlier this year.
Grateful to @DeborahNetburn for this wonderful interview in @latimes Shelf Help column about my new book! latimes.com/lifestyle/story/…
❤️❤️❤️
My Twitter-friend turned real-friend @cmoon’s book was published today. “Three Years On The Great Mountain” is available where you get books. Check it out!
And then I hear that someone I wrote about in my book is hiding in the jungle from the military junta and suddenly my #pubday problems are nothing at all.
Two things my book doesn't have are photos and audible sounds, so I made a book trailer to help folks imagine more of the world I write about.
Thanks to Yeshe for sharing how badly she wanted to know what the taku and inkhin sound like! It was so cute that I had to make sure to include those in the meditation scene.
