Let's be very clear about the Oregon tragedy... Oregon has some of the strongest gun laws in the entire country. Gifford's gives them an A-. Gun laws did nothing to prevent this. Not a single thing. Evil people do bad things and do not care about the law. What did stop it? An armed patriot who broke those same gun laws that Giffords, Brady, etc all laud. A man had to violate the law to save others. Gun laws do not save lives, they prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. That's the real reason for gun control: Ensuring the populace is reliant on the state and cannot defend themselves or hold the government accountable.
