Only days ahead of historic elections in Serbia, CPAC announces its first Balkans event, centering the country’s Beijing and Moscow backed strongman leader Aleksandar Vucic who has spent much of the past two years repressing peaceful anti-government protests.

It's pretty fucked to live in the timeline where Alex Jones won.
Not personally, so there's that. But we are all living in his world now. Everyone's got a conspiracy theory. Everyone knows that the Jews/Billionaires/Data Centers/Indians/Ukrainians/Vaccines are making frogs gay.

The Moscow-Beijing backed Serb secessionist regime in Bosnia’s RS entity - one of the poorest regions in Europe - has again increased its lobbying budget to nearly $40 million, almost the whole of which is going to U.S.-based operatives. capital.ba/srpska-povecala-b…

>French state sucks hard-working people dry to pay for the most generous social services in the world
>Leftists still call this "neoliberalism"
Jesus, what a repugnant ideology
A nice old building burns, and so the pearl-clutching begins. Where were these pearl clutchers when austerity was wrecking a generation? Why does one town hall grab their attention but millions of schools, hospitals, and homes dilapidated by neoliberalism are of no importance?

France's level of public social spending was third highest in the world at 30.6% of GDP in 2024. Excluding the pandemic, it is slightly down from its 31.9% high in 2014. Total public spending is 57.2%, second highest among large countries not at war and near all-time highs.

Battle of Lake Changjin is one of the best Chinese propaganda movies I've seen. Did you know there's a stable of white guys in China whos whole job is to play Americans in movies? Sounds like a sweet deal

I had planned to go to the stop after this one today. But instead Russians murdered people.
This is a #Kyiv metro station. Attacked last night at 23.00. In one of the most densely populated working class areas of the city. No warning. People still travelling home to meet the 12 am curfew.
god please take ukraine's suffering and give it to italians
🇮🇹✊ Students took to the streets of Florence today, demanding more funding for public education and saying NO to war and rearmament. 📚🕊️

If, like Branko Milanovic, you believe that Russia’s military victory across Europe is imminent, desirable and unstoppable, even going as far as threatening the Baltic states at the cost of nuclear war, stop posting and go join Putin’s army, given you are already fighting his war
It is a strange world.
Because 5.7 million people live in three small Baltic countries (whose total size is less than a Chinese Tier II city). and whose half of the population lives in Europe, and another third are Russians who cannot get citizenship, and because they have traumas and bad memories of the Soviet rule, the entire world of 8 billion people should go into a nuclear apocalypse and die.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Baltic countries lie entirely in Europe. Non-citizens comprise ~9% of Latvia's population, ~4-5% of Estonia's and near zero in Lithuania—not one third—while ethnic Russians total ~14% overall (most with citizenship).
