What's going on with the investigation into Belmont’s Saniyah Cheatham, who died July 5 , 2025 while in police custody at the @NYPD41Pct for alleged assault? Nobody believes this gorgeous 18year old committed suicide!l. We demand accountability @BronxDAClark!

🚨 FACT CHECK: The NYPD Is NOT Exempt From Psychology Licensing Laws 🚨 Some people keep claiming Education Law § 7605 gives the NYPD a blanket exemption to let unlicensed “psychologists” evaluate and disqualify candidates. Let’s be clear — that’s fiction. Here’s what the law actually says: 🔹 § 7605 – Narrow Exemptions 1️⃣ Certain government employees can perform some psychological services only within the scope of their official duties, if otherwise qualified, and cannot use the title “licensed psychologist.” 2️⃣ Graduate students or interns may practice only under direct, on-site supervision and must be identified as “intern” or “psychological assistant.” 3️⃣ Testing technicians can administer certain instruments only under a licensed psychologist’s supervision. 📌 What’s NOT allowed: – No blanket carveout for the NYPD to run psychological evaluations without licensure. – No authority to perform full-scope evaluations, render diagnoses, or make fitness-for-duty determinations absent a license/permit. 🔹 § 7604 – Limited Permits – Max 3 years + 1-year extension = 4 years total. – Many NYPD assessors have been in these roles 5–10 years without a license. That’s a clear violation. 🔹 § 6512 – Practicing Without a License – Performing psychological work without a valid license/permit = Class E felony. 🔹 § 6513 – Title Misuse – Using “psychologist” without a license is a separate offense — yes, even if it’s in rosters, court filings, or ID cards. 💡 Bottom line: No NY court has ever upheld this phantom “NYPD exemption.” Other departments in NYS follow the law and hire only licensed or board-permitted psychologists. The NYPD isn’t above the law — and this decades-long violation of Education Law is a scandal waiting for prosecution. #NYPD #Accountability #EducationLaw #PoliceReform #CivilRights #LicensingLaw #PublicSafety

🔥 “Why isn’t this part of the budget?” said our ED Serena Martin. “It should be a mandatory thing that you get, like a pillow and a blanket.” We joined Interfaith Prison Partnership, Woman 2 Woman & Bedford PRAC to raise funds for fans in NY prisons. 📰 nysfocus.com/2025/08/04/summ…

George Santos writes about his incarceration: "It’s not just the loss of freedom—it’s the erosion of your dignity. It’s realizing how many basic human rights we all take for granted on the outside." southshorepress.com/stories/…

Today I visited the Nassau County jail along with @SolagesNY to witness firsthand the jail's immigration detention. In recent months, due to Nassau County's 287(g) agreement with ICE, the jail is able to incarcerate our neighbors there solely because of their immigration status.
Replying to @SolagesNY
@SolagesNY and I are at East Meadow Jail right now to utilize our rights as state electeds to inspect the facility. The facility has unlawfully denied us entry, even as we handed them a copy of the law. We are working on escalating.

This isn't the first mysterious death of a caged person at the @NYPD41Pct. What's going on at this house ?

Another weak bill from @CMCarlinaRivera that doesn't require @CorrectionNYC to report on deaths of people medically or compassiona released from jail or on the releases themselves. If @NYSDOCCS can track this data why can't DOC?

There is always this nonsense with Carlina's bills. She pretends to be this politician of the people but she eats off the people more than she feeds us.
