It came down to the final 3 holes. Brandon and Vinny were in 2nd place and down 1 stroke to the leaders standing on the 16th tee. But they finished with 3 consecutive birdies to get the win by 1 stroke over Jackson Northwest's Javon Palmer and Liam Renaud. The boys were in with a 32, which gave them a total of a 9-under-par 63. Congratulations to Brandon and Vinny on the great score and the victory. – at Tecumseh, MI

I am very excited for Thursday's 2026 RW Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour event at Burr Oak GC. Brandon Ruhl and Vinny Skidmore are teaming up in this 2-man scramble event, and will be competing against some of the best players in Jackson County in this team event. All-State players Brody Baum and Leo Nguyen are the defending Champs of this event and will be in the group in front of our Redwolves. All-Stater Lucas Schwartz and his younger brother are teaming up and in that same group. Lots of talented teams from the Jackson area will be competing, looking forward to how our Redwolves stack up. – at Tecumseh, MI

And last, but certainly not least, is our captain and Senior-to-be Brandon Ruhl. After putting together a strong sophomore season where he was runner-up for the league title, Brandon took his game to another level in 2026. He emerged as one of the top players in the state, finishing 28th in the state in 9-hole iWR average, and 31st at the MHSAA D3 Finals. Brandon earned Division 3 All-State Honorable Mention Honors, was the LCAA Individual Champion, First Team All-LCAA, and First Team All-County honors. All of this earned him the Redwolves 2026 Player of the Year Award. Brandon recorded eight top-five finishes, twelve top-10 finishes, and consistently led our team against some of the state's toughest competition. With another offseason to improve, the team is excited to see what Brandon can accomplish as he returns to lead the Redwolves in his senior season. – at Tecumseh, MI

Next up is Junior-to-be Vinny Skidmore. Vinny was coming off of one of, if not, the best freshman seasons in school history. As a freshman Vinny was 7th in the league standings, won our home Invitational with a 75, and led our team in 9-hole iWR index ranking. It was going to be difficult to improve on those stats this year. But he did just that by improving his scoring average by half a stroke, getting 3rd overall in the league, and first team All-LCAA and All-County honors. The team will be looking for Vinny to take another jump next season and help lead the team once again. – at Tecumseh, MI

Next up is Senior-to-be Owen Wright. Owen's play on the course earned him the 2026 Varsity Rookie of the Year Award. He broke 80 twice in just his first year of Varsity Golf, which is a rare feat for our program. His high character and team-first attitude on and off the course earned him the 2026 Sportmanship Award as well. Owen is a great young man and sets the standard for hard work and sportmanship as a Redwolf golfer. I am expecting a big Senior year season from him next spring. – at Tecumseh, MI

It is time to recognize some individual accomplishments of our Varsity golfers and highlight the impressive seasons each of them had. First up is Junior-to-be Cyle McLeod. Cyle earned All-LCAA Second Team Honors in just his first year of competetive golf. Cyle also set the record for the lowest round for a first-year golfer at the Medalist (84), which is the most difficult course on our schedule each year. He broke the record of 86 previously held by Vinny Skidmore. This earned Cyle the breakout performance of the year award. I am excited to see Cyle's continued improvement as a Junior. – at Tecumseh, MI

Today we honor graduating Senior Robert McDonald, a four-year varsity starter, co-captain, and team leader. Robert's impact on Clinton Golf extends far beyond scores and statistics. As the emotional leader of our team, he set the standard every day through his work ethic, accountability, and unwavering commitment to his teammates. Over the last two seasons, he played a critical role in helping lead our program to new heights, earning Academic All-State, All-LCAA First Team, and All-County First Team honors along the way. More importantly, Robert was the type of leader who made everyone around him better. He led by example, embraced every challenge, and represented Clinton Golf with pride, class, and determination. His presence, leadership, and passion for the program will be missed tremendously. Thank you for everything you've given to Redwolves Golf, Robert. We are proud of all you've accomplished and can't wait to see what the future holds for you at the University of Michigan. – at Tecumseh, MI

Today we celebrate graduating Senior Mason Diaz and thank him for four years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to the Clinton Redwolves Golf program. Mason's team-first attitude, coachability, and dependability helped strengthen our team both on and off the course. As a two-year varsity contributor, he represented Clinton with class and determination every time he teed it up. Congratulations, Mason, and best of luck at Jackson College as you pursue a degree in Business and Entrepreneurship. – at Tecumseh, MI

Brandon battled hard today at the difficult Washtenaw GC to finish 12th, just 1 stroke away from a top-10 finish. The course setup was a challenge with a 71.3/138 rating/slope, and playing almost 6,400 yards, which was very close to Bedford Valley difficulty. Brandon’s 82 was respectable given the difficult setup. – at Tecumseh, MI
